Rosario Dawson joins the cast of upcoming horror anthology film Deepest, Darkest

Talented actress Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka) has just joined the cast of the upcoming anthology film Deepest, Darkest, coming from Marc Bernardin (Carnival Row, Star Trek: Picard) and Tiffany Smith. Bernardin is reportedly crowdfunding this project via Kickstarter. We shared more about this new movie below.

Deepest Darkest is executive produced by Akela Cooper (The Nun 2, M3GAN) and David Dastmalchian (Late Night With the Devil, The Last Voyage of the Demeter). According to Deadline, the film will tell stories of horror, suspense, dark comedy, and science fiction. But while there will be stories of different genres, each one will center around "the keeping of secrets."

You might recognize some of the directors who will be helming the segments. Directors include LaToya Morgan (The Walking Dead, Into the Badlands), Deric A. Hughes & Benjamin Raab (Quantum Leap), Ubah Mohamed (The Handmaid’s Tale), Lamont Magee (All American: Homecoming, Black Lightning), Sujata Day (Insecure), and Kevin Avery (The Great North).

In addition, Rachel Walker, Carrie Finn, and Kyle Smithers are serving as producers on the film. Besides Dawson, the cast also includes Smith, Avery, Day, Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The Family Business), Raymond Lee (Quantum Leap), Phil LaMarr (Futurama, Good Times), Yetide Badaki (American Gods, This Is Us), and Caitlin Basset (Quantum Leap).

In a statement to Deadline, Dawson expressed her excitement about getting to work on this new project.

"I’m a big fan of… well, I guess I shouldn’t tell you which project I’m working on but all of the writers and directors [on DEEPEST, DARKEST] are amazing, so getting a chance to work with them was an opportunity that I didn’t want to miss."

Dawson is known for portraying the titular character in the Disney+ space fantasy series Ahsoka. She also had roles in movies such as Men in Black II, Rent, Sin City, Seven Pounds, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Zookeeper and Zombieland: Double Tap.

Some of her other TV work includes playing Jane "J.R." Ramos in Jane the Virgin, General Monica Jackson in Young Rock and Bridget Meyer in Dopesick. Her most recent project is the new Netflix action anime series Terminator Zero. She voices the role of Kokoro. Besides Deepest, Darkest, another project of Dawson's to be on the lookout for is the upcoming action thriller Midnight. She just recently wrapped up filming on this movie.
