Lionsgate is developing a film adaptation of one of Stephen King's earliest novels, The Long Walk. Several new cast members were just announced, one of which Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin and Summer School fans will recognize! Jordan Gonzalez, who plays Ash in the Max series, is one of seven new additions to the movie's cast.

Apart from Gonzalez, Deadline report that the movie will also star Philip Seymour Hoffman's son Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza), David Jonsson (Industry), Garrett Wareing (Ransom Canyon), Tut Nyuot (The Witcher: Blood Origin), Charlie Plummer (Looking for Alaska), Ben Wang (Mean Girls), Joshua Odjick (The Swarm), and Roman Griffin Davis (Jojo Rabbit), though everyone's roles currently remain under wraps. Odjick is also set to star in another King project, the It prequel series Welcome to Derry for HBO.

No, Pretty Little Liars hasn't been renewed yet, but even if it does receive a third season I don't imagine that production on The Long Walk will prevent Gonzalez from appearing.

The Long Walk was one of King's novels published under his pen name Richard Bachmann. The story is set in a dystopian world ruled by a totalitarian regime where a primary source of entertainment is, as you might have guessed, the "Long Walk."

Taking place each year, the Long Walk sees a group of 100 teenage boys participating in the contest that involves walking, basically endlessly. The catch is that the boys have to walk above 4 miles per hour at all times. If they drop below that rate for too long they receive a warning. Three warnings and they get shot dead by one of the soldiers monitoring the whole thing.

Fittingly, the film will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who is best known for directing several films in the popular YA dystopian franchise, The Hunger Games, like the recent prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Production on the film has already started and will continue throughout the remainder of the summer.
