As all “Drive-In Mutants” (A/K/A fans of Joe Bob Briggs) know, Shudder series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs was renewed for a sixth season, and that season begins this week.

Now Shudder has released the key art and the trailer for season six, which is being described by the horror streamer as “supersized.”

Tune in to Shudder TV or AMC+ TV this Friday, March 15 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time for the season premiere of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. This will be a special episode, The Last Drive-In Live: A Tribute to Roger Corman, and if you miss it, you can watch it on demand on Shudder and AMC+ starting on Sunday, March 17.

After that, the show will return to its watch party format, with a couple of changes. Change #1: The Last Drive-In will roll out a new episode every other Friday at 9:00 p.m.; a change from the weekly episodes we got in seasons one through five.

Change #2: While The Last Drive-In used to show a double feature each episode, the series will now feature only one film. I am personally not terribly upset by this, as I almost never made it to the second film, due to the late hour. We are still getting Joe Bob and Darcy’s witty commentary, complete with fun trivia, JB’s entertaining ramblings and interaction with the crew. It’s also expected that there will, as always, be special guests along the way.

What films will be shown this season? Who knows? But Joe Bob and Darcy usually post clues on social media in the week leading up to each episode. If you want to join in on the fun, follow them on Twitter.

As with the opening special, each episode will be available to watch on demand on the Sunday following its premiere.

So what can we expect from The Last Drive-In: A Tribute to Roger Corman?

Joe Bob’s World Drive-In Jamboree was held at the West Wind Las Vegas Drive-In in October of 2023, and it was recorded specifically to air this season. The legendary Roger Corman, along with Julie Corman and Bruce Dern appeared as special guests.

We are also promised a double feature for this special, with two of Corman’s films being aired. For those of us unable to attend the Jamboree in person, this should be a real treat!
