The cameras are currently rolling on the highly anticipated Yellowjackets season 3, and we couldn't be more excited to see that things are finally progressing on the new season. The third season is confirmed to premiere sometime in early 2025, so it'll be a while before we see our favorite characters back on our screens. To keep ourselves busy while waiting for the third season to be released, we've been searching all over for new information. Luckily, one of the show's main cast members recently teased what fans can expect from the upcoming Yellowjackets season 3.

We're talking about Yellowjackets star Christina Ricci, who plays adult Misty in the hit horror thriller series. You might also recognize her from her previous role as Wednesday Addams in the movies The Addams Family and Addams Family Values. One of her most recent roles, in addition to portraying Misty in Yellowjackets, was playing the antagonist Marilyn Thornhill in Netflix's Wednesday. Now, we'll soon see her return as adult Misty in Yellowjackets season 3, and we can only imagine what her character's journey will look like this season.

In a June 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ricci shared with fans a little of what they can expect in the brand new season while also speaking on that shocking season 2 finale. She tells the news outlet that season 3 will be even "more shocking and surprising" than seasons 1 and 2. She also mentions that the third season will be "brutal," which isn't shocking since the first two seasons were brutal as well. However, she also states that this season will contain a lot of comedic elements to it. She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "So I think it’s [season 3] just going to be… extremelyYellowjackets-y."

Ricci then goes on to talk about her fellow cast member's departure from the series. If you recall from the season 2 finale, adult Natalie, played by Juliette Lewis, is accidentally killed by Ricci's character when she injects her with phenobarbital. Ricci tells The Hollywood Reporter that she and the rest of the cast are "like sisters," so seeing one of them depart the series was tough. She says, "We bonded and spent so much time together, and we just really loved each other. It was really sad for her character to be killed off. Even now, we’ve filmed a couple of episodes, and it’s sad without Juliet.”

So, how will Misty process Natalie's death going forward, especially knowing that she's the reason why she's dead? Well, Ricci says that she believes Misty will eventually forgive herself for accidentally killing Natalie once she processes the shock. She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We’ve seen that she’s done it before. She forgave herself for what she did to her friends in the wilderness, and I think she is someone who does get past things because she is a survivor.”

Unfortunately, Ricci wasn't able to tease anything about her character's journey in season 3 since the creators tend to try to keep the cast in the dark as much as they can. But we just know that we'll be thoroughly entertained regardless.
