We can't believe we're about to be eight months into 2024. The year is almost over, but there is still so much more horror content left to be released in theaters. In July, we saw the highly anticipated theatrical releases of MaXXXine, Longlegs and Twisters. Next month, we'll see the release of seven must-see horror films. Are you curious to know what movies we're talking about? If so, keep reading because we shared the titles below!

Trap

Release date: Aug. 2, 2024

Trap follows a father and daughter who, while attending a concert for a pop star, find themselves trapped inside the venue as the authorities try to catch a local serial killer who is believed to be in attendance at the concert. The twist? The father is actually the killer. Or at least that's what viewers are led to believe. Since M. Night Shyamalan is behind this film, we're expecting an even crazier twist.

Josh Hartnett stars in the leading role of the serial killer, Cooper, with Ariel Donoghue as Riley, Cooper's teenage daughter. Joining them in the cast are Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, Alison Pill, and others.

Cuckoo

Release date: Aug. 9, 2024

Cuckoo centers around Gretchen, a 17-year-old girl who is forced to leave America to live with her father at a resort in the German Alps. But soon after her arrival, she begins to experience strange visions and hear weird noises. What she initially believed to be a tranquil vacation paradise turns out to be entirely something else, and she eventually finds herself in a fight for survival.

The horror-thriller stars Euphoria's Hunter Schafer in the leading role of Gretchen. Jan Bluthardt, Marton Csokas, Jessica Henwick, Dan Stevens, and many others also star.

Alien: Romulus

Release date: Aug. 16, 2024

Serving as the seventh movie in the hit Alien film series, Alien: Romulus takes place between the events of Alien and Aliens. The story follows a group of 20-something space colonists who, while rummaging through a run-down space station, come across a deadly extraterrestrial lifeform. The talented cast is made up of Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.

The Crow

Release date: Aug. 23, 2024

The Crow serves as a reboot of the original 1994 film of the same name. It's based on the 1989 comic book series of the same name by James O'Barr and centers around a musician who on the night before his wedding is brutally murdered along with his fiancée. After being resurrected from the dead by supernatural forces, the musician then sets out to avenge the deaths of himself and his fiancée.

It's Bill Skarsgård stars as the murdered musician, Eric/The Crow, while FKA Twigs plays Eric's fiancée, Shelly. Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Sami Bouajila, and Isabella Wei also star.

Afraid

Release date: Aug. 30, 2024

Afraid will remind you of the sci-fi horror film M3GAN, with it mainly revolving around artificial intelligence. The movie follows a family that, after getting the opportunity to test out a new digital family assistant called AIA, finds themselves facing off against it when it turns deadly. John Cho, Katherine Waterston, Havana Rose Liu, Lukita Maxwell, David Dastmalchian, and Keith Carradine make up the cast.
