It’s now officially summer, and you know what that means! That’s right, streaming services are packed with shark movies. Shudder includes some pretty great underwater/shark flicks in their July schedule, as well as some originals and exclusives.
July 1:
Orca – Richard Harris and Bo Derek star in this film, which capitalized on the mega success of Jaws. When a boat captain mistakenly kills a pregnant female orca, her mate seeks revenge on the entire crew.
Lake Placid – Betty White played one of her most iconic roles in this fun story of a croc in Maine. When it appears a crocodile inhabits a Maine lake, nobody believes it at first. But it turns out Delores (White) has been feeding it, causing it to stick around.
Crawl – “A trip to the countryside turns out to be far from idyllic for a father and his new fiancée when his kids decide the house is a little too crowded.”
The Ruins – A group of friends on holiday in Mexico end up in the vacation from hell when an archaeological dig goes wrong.
The Pack – A farmer and his family are terrorized by a pack of wild dogs that trap them. Can the family fight hard enough to survive?

July 3:
No Way Up – A plane crashes into the Pacific Ocean, and the pilots and some passengers are killed. The survivors end up trapped in an air pocket in the plane and must contend with lack of air and sharks.
The Last Breath – “A true story that follows seasoned deep-sea divers as they battle the raging elements to rescue their crew mate trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean’s surface.”
The Reef – When Luke is hired to deliver a yacht to Indonesia, he invites friends to join him, but things go awry when the boat hits a reef and capsizes. Naturally, the survivors find themselves menaced by a blood-thirsty shark.
July 7:
Sundelbolong – In this Indonesian horror film, the ghost of a Javanese prostitute decides to haunt a group of high school students.
The Queen of Black Magic – Another Indonesian film, The Queen of Black Magic is about a woman who is thrown over a cliff when she is believed to be a witch. She is rescued by a man who tells her she should go after the ones who tried to kill her.
Nyi Blorong – A wealthy businessman sacrifices his wife and child to Nyi Blorong in order to make his fortune. But when she demands more from him, he seeks a holy man to help him defeat her.
Sankuriang – “ After swearing an oath to marry the one who picks up her weaving stick, Dayang Sumba embarks on an unexpected romance with a royal staff member.”
Let the Corpses Tan – When a gang steals gold, they hide out in what should be the perfect spot to do so, the home of an artist. But their situation only worsens.

Cujo – In this Stephen King adaptation, a friendly St. Bernard named Cujo becomes vicious and blood-thirsty after contracting rabies from a bat. He ends up trapping Donna (Dee Wallace) and her little boy Tad in their car.
July 11:
Push (Shudder Original) – Made by the creators of The Boy Behind the Door, Push introduces us to Natalie, 8 months pregnant and alone after the death of her fiancée. Unfortunately for her, her new start is sidetracked when a killer (Raul Castillo of Smile 2) takes note of her.
July 14:
Mary Shelley – This film tells the story of Mary Shelley, the writer of Frankenstein. At the age of 16, she met poet Percy Shelley, who was 21 years old.
The Housemaid – A Vietnamese orphan is hired as a housemaid at a plantation in Indochina. When she falls in love with the plantation’s owner, the ghost of his wife pops up to stop the burgeoning romance.
July 21:
Swallow – Haley Bennett stars as Hunter, a young wife who is pregnant. Her wealthy husband is rather distant, and Hunter finds herself compelled to ingest items such as marbles, batteries and thumbtacks.
68 Kill – “A punk-rock after hours about femininity, masculinity and the theft of $68,000.”

July 25:
Monster Island (Shudder Exclusive) – A Japanese ship is moving POWs to use as slaves, and is hit by a torpedo, ending up on a deserted island. They discover that there are terrifying creatures on the island, and must try to survive.
July 30:
Suzzanna: The Queen of Black Magic – Once considered Asia’s most popular actress, Suzanna Martha Frederika van Osch was commonly known simply as Suzzana. This documentary takes a look at her life, and asks why the rest of the world knew nothing of her.
