Video game enthusiasts and horror buffs alike are eagerly anticipating Sony's upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular video game Until Dawn, which is set to hit theaters this Friday, April 25. However, the company also has something special in store that is sure to thrill hardcore horror fans. It's a competition that will test your stamina. Are you up for the challenge?

So, how does this competition work? Well, it's an Until Dawn screening competition that's designed to celebrate the release of the movie and get fans hyped. Essentially, the challenge is that participants must watch Until Dawn over and over again all night long, literally until the sun comes up. Doesn't seem that hard to you? Well, there's a catch. If you fall asleep, take a bathroom break, or even use your phone, you will be disqualified. The last horror fan standing, aka the one who makes it through the night without tapping out, wins a prize and earns the ultimate bragging rights.

I'd call this a horror-themed sleep deprivation contest, but if you think you have what it takes to survive until dawn, then this might be your nightmare-fueled dream come true. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to participate in this competition. For starters, it's only available to people living in the United States. Secondly, you must be living in one of these participating cities, which are Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Chicago, Washington D.C., Denver, Atlanta, or Miami.

The screening competition will begin Tuesday, April 22, at 7:00 p.m. (in whatever local time zone you're in), and it will run all night until Wednesday, April 23, at 6:45 a.m., again based on your local time zone. Specifically, the time zones we're talking about are PDT (Pacific), CDT (Central), and EDT (Eastern). This competition should be a breeze for night owls, but for anyone who starts yawning past midnight, it’s going to be a true test of willpower. With no sleep, no bathroom breaks, and no phones allowed, this is more than just a movie marathon. It’s a battle of endurance. Only the most diehard horror fans will make it to sunrise without bowing out.

David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out) directed Until Dawn from a script that was written by Gary Dauberman ('Salem's Lot, It Chapter Two) and Blair Butler (The Invitation, Polaroid). While it's based on the 2015 video game of the same name, it features a unique, standalone storyline that expands on the original game’s universe.

Here's the movie's official synopsis via the Sony website:

"One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. They find themselves horrifically murdered, only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning. Trapped in an endless time loop, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again - only each time, the killer is different, each more terrifying than the last, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn."

The cast is made up of Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A'zion, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, Maia Mitchell, and Peter Stormare.

Until Dawn is scheduled to land in theaters on April 25. You can buy your tickets now!
