Just days after dropping a teaser for its upcoming horror film Until Dawn, Sony Pictures has thrilled fans again by unveiling the official trailer, offering a deeper glimpse into the chilling story and the high-stakes terror that awaits the unsuspecting teens. You can check it out above!

Gamers will recognize this movie right away, as it’s based on the popular 2015 video game of the same name by Supermassive Games. Over the years, we've seen both successful and disappointing horror video game adaptations. While we're hoping that Until Dawn doesn't fall into the latter category, the early trailer suggests it has the potential to deliver the thrilling suspense and terrifying atmosphere that fans of the game expect.

Coming from the same director who brought us the horror films Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out, Until Dawn will not follow the game's original storyline but will instead tell a new story. The film follows a young woman named Clover, who, along with her friends, returns to the location where her sister vanished a year earlier in search of answers. However, shortly after their arrival, strange events start happening.

One by one, the group is murdered by a masked killer, only to wake up and find themselves trapped in a loop, reliving the same evening over and over again. To escape this nightmare, they must figure out how to survive until dawn.

David F. Sandberg directed this film, and Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman helped write the script. Additionally, Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions produced. Ella Rubin stars in the main role of Clover, with this being her first horror project. Besides this movie, we'll see her next in Netflix's upcoming horror movie Fear Street: Prom Queen.

Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A'zion, and Belmont Cameli join the cast as Clover's friends. Australian actress Maia Mitchell portrays Clover's missing older sister, Melanie. In addition, this movie also sees the return of Peter Stormare from the video game, who will be playing a new character known as Hill.

After watching the exciting official trailer, it's clear that Until Dawn will deliver a captivating mix of suspense, mystery, and horror, promising an intense ride for both fans of the game and newcomers alike. It's definitely a must-watch!

You can expect this horror video game adaptation to hit theaters this spring. The exact theatrical release date is April 25, 2025. Don't forget to save the date!
