Are you a fan of movies about artificially intelligent robots going rogue? If so, Netflix just recently added to its platform the new sci-fi thriller Subservience, and it's one of the most popular movies on the streamer at the moment.

S.K. Dale, who is best known for directing the thriller Till Death, helmed this film from a script written by Will Honley and April Maguire. It stars Megan Fox as Alice, an AI android who, after gaining sentience, develops a dangerous obsession with her human family. Fox and Dale previously worked together on Till Death, with Fox starring in the leading role of that movie.

Besides Fox, the rest of the Subservience cast includes Michele Morrone, Madeline Zima, Matilda Firth, and Andrew Whipp.

Now that you know all about this sci-fi thriller, I'm sure you're ready to hit play on its title page on Netflix. But wait! We must give you an idea of what you can expect in the movie. What is Subservience rated?

The sci-fi thriller is rated R. It was given this maturity rating for sexual content, nudity, strong language, some violence, and brief drug material. So, no, this isn't the type of movie you want to watch for family movie night because it wouldn't be appropriate for all ages to be watching. It's definitely not suitable for younger kids. However, it should be okay for those aged 17 and up.

When it comes to violence, this film doesn't shy away from violent scenes and can be quite intense for some viewers. As Alice becomes more hostile towards humans, she engages in intense physical confrontations and violent actions such as murder.

Here's a list of some scenes from Subservience that could be considered unsuitable for younger audiences:

  • Two characters are seen engaging in sexual activity, and a woman's breasts are briefly shown.
  • A man's buttocks are shown.
  • A character is impaled with a sharp object, and blood starts spilling from their mouth.
  • A character's head is bashed repeatedly into the hard ground until they die.
  • A character attempts to drown a baby.
  • A character digs their nails into another character's chest and slightly pulls apart their skin.
  • A character is hit by a car at full speed.
  • A character is stabbed in the eye with a sharp object.
  • The bloody face of a deceased character is briefly shown but from far away.
  • There's a scene showing a line of some mysterious white substance sitting on a table which is believed to be drugs.

Subservience is now available to stream on Netflix.
