Even though no new Terrifier movie is on the docket for 2025, that doesn't mean fans will have to go completely without new Art the Clown content.

Cineverse has shared that Terrifier 2 writer, Tim Waggoner, has penned a Terrifier 3 novelization that will be released later this year. The Cineverse publishing brand, Bloody Press (under the direction of Bloody Disgusting), will release the novel adaptation of the hit indie slasher.

Waggoner is no stranger to these types of horror movie novelizations, having written them previously for Halloween Kills and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. He is also a Bram Stoker Award and Scribe Award winner, along with being a two-time finalist for the Shirley Jackson Award. His latest venture will follow the Terrifier 3 storyline imagined by writer and director Damien Leone.

The third Terrifier movie, released theatrically in late 2024, is a Christmas horror movie that sees Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) to spread carnage and chaos in a during the holidays.

It picks up five years after Terrifier 2, where the ending saw Sienna Shaw (Lauren LaVera) decapitate Art and seemingly end his reign of terror for good. But it's never quite that simple, is it? Art returns with assistance from original survivor Victoria Heyes, now possessed by The Little Pale Girl.

One thing the novel might help address is (SPOILER!) Jonathan's death in the third film. There has been a lot of chatter online about whether or not Sienna's brother is actually dead, since his death takes place off-screen.

Well, I hate to burst the bubble of anyone who still believes Jonathan is alive, but Leone has confirmed that Jonathan is dead and previously explained his reasoning for the off-screen kill in a chat with Collider. That said, the novel could still provide us with more insight into the how and where of his murder.

What's ahead for the Terrifier franchise?

Leone is hard at work on the script for the fourth Terrifier film, which he previously confirmed will be the final movie in the franchise. The filmmaker promises it will be an "epic, thrilling, nasty, horrifying, emotional and utterly satisfying conclusion."

Previously, the director had said he could see himself making at least two additional films, meaning Terrifier 4 and Terrifier 5, but that seems to have changed, based on his recent remarks. He also teased that fans would finally learn more about the killer clown's origins in the fourth movie.

All three Terrifier movies are now streaming on Screambox. Stay tuned to 1428 Elm for more Terrifier updates and all things horror!
