Joe Bob Briggs, Darcy the Mail Girl and the cast and crew of The Last Drive-In are sending fans season’s greetings in the form of an all-new Christmas special. Joe Bob’s Christmas Carnage will debut on Shudder TV and AMC+ TV on Friday, December 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET. The special will be available to view on demand on Shudder and AMC+ on Sunday, December 15.
The special will consist of two films described in the press release as “holiday horror flicks,” so if you were worried that JB was going to go with non-Christmas films as he did in 2018 and 2021, you are probably safe. We all know that our favorite drive-in movie critic likes to keep us on our toes!
The first The Last Drive-In Christmas special made its Shudder debut in 2018, and a new one comes out each year in December. Some of the films shown over the years have included Black Christmas, Silent Night Deadly Night Part two, Christmas Evil and A Christmas Horror Story.
As in prior years, the Christmas special is tying in with a charitable auction, where Joe Bob and Darcy will be auctioning off props and merchandise from the series. Also up for bid will be some of Joe Bob’s personal (and priceless) memorabilia, collected during the run of his 35 year career. Details regarding the featured films and items up for auction will be disclosed during the actual special.
Joe Bob's Christmas Carnage will benefit four different charities
While you wait impatiently for the special to arrive, let’s take a look at the charitable organizations that will benefit from the auction during Joe Bob’s Christmas Carnage:
Pacific Marine Mammal Center – According to their website, this organization “is a marine mammal hospital leading in veterinary research, STEM education and ocean conservation efforts.” The Center cares for California Sea Lions, Northern Elephant Seals, Pacific Harbor Seals and Northern Fur Seals.
Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation – This worthy organization gives college scholarships and provides counseling for “military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.” Scholarship assistance averages up to $6,250 each year.
Family Promise – Family Promise has been in operation for over thirty years, and their mission is to help homeless families achieve stability and independence.
Breast Cancer Research Foundation – As “the largest public funder of breast cancer research,” BCRF is devoted to the hope that with enough research, breast cancer can be ended once and for all. By the end of 2024, it is estimated that more than 310,720 women will have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
