In the gripping official trailer for 28 Years Later, we're thrust back into the heart of chaos, where the relentless virus continues to spread unchecked, leaving a trail of destruction and despair.

The last survivors of humanity hold on to hope amid the chaos, battling the unyielding wave of the infected. With this brand-new third installment to the 28 Days Later film series, we can expect to be put on another adrenaline-fueled ride filled with even more heart-pounding action and gut-wrenching suspense. Take a look at the thrilling first trailer for the upcoming horror film right below.

As you can see in the trailer, the horror is far from over. Many years have passed since the outbreak, but the infection’s grip on humanity is stronger than ever. The film centers on a group of survivors residing on a small, remote island who have managed to carve out a way of life among the infected.

When one member decides to venture off the island on a dangerous mission, he uncovers shocking truths and horrors that have transformed not just the infected but the remaining survivors as well.

Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle, who is best known for directing the first movie in the film series (28 Days Later), returns to helm the new installment from a screenplay written by Alex Garland. Garland wrote the script for the first film as well. Cillian Murphy, who starred as Jim in 28 Days Later, is an executive producer on the new movie.

The amazingly talented cast is made up of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O'Connell, Erin Kellyman, Alfie Williams, and Edvin Ryding. In addition, Murphy is believed to be reprising his role as Jim in the sequel, even though he is not shown in the trailer. However, there's speculation that he could've been one of the zombies.

Shot on an iPhone, 28 Years Later is set to be released in theaters on June 20, 2025, by Sony Pictures Releasing. A direct sequel titled 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple was shot back to back, but a theatrical release has not been set yet. A third film in this trilogy of sequels to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later is also in the works.
