After both receiving Oscar nominations this year, Demi Moore and Colman Domingo are set to star in an exciting new romance film that blends love with a thrilling alien abduction twist. Titled Strange Arrivals, we've shared everything there is to know so far about this upcoming movie down below.
Strange Arrivals comes from See-Saw Films. One Story Up also works together with See-Saw Films to produce the movie. Roger Ross Williams (Stamped from the Beginning) is signed on to direct with Jane Anderson (The Wife, Olive Kitteridge) penning the script. Emile Sherman, Iain Canning, Samantha Lang, and Anne Carey are producers. In addition, Simon Gillis, Garth Davis, Williams, Thorsten Schumacher, Aaron Mahnke, Bob Pittman, Conal Byrne, and Geoff Martz are executive producers of the film.
Based on Toby Ball's podcast of the same name, the movie's story is inspired by a real-life event involving Betty and Barney Hill, an interracial couple from the 1960s. In 1961, they became the first widely known case of alien abduction after reportedly experiencing an encounter while driving home from their honeymoon in Niagara Falls. After their alien abduction claim became public, Betty and Barney Hill gained widespread attention and became famous, but beneath the fame lay a deeper, unsettling truth about that night, one that would challenge even the strongest of bonds.
This is the first time Moore and Domingo will star in a film together, so their collaboration is highly anticipated, with many eager to see how their dynamic will bring this real-life couple's story to life on screen. Moore most recently starred in the hit body horror film The Substance, which earned her her first Oscar nomination. Besides Strange Arrivals, we'll see her next in the upcoming sci-fi comedy I Love Boosters.
Domingo, on the other hand, most recently starred in the prison drama film Sing Sing. He received his second Oscar nomination ever for this movie. Other than Strange Arrivals, he has several upcoming movies we can look forward to like Michael, The Running Man, Dead Man's Wire and an untitled Steven Spielberg film.
In a new statement, director Roger Ross Williams expressed his excitement about this new project.
"As a director, to be able to work with actors at the top of their craft, is a dream. Demi and Colman coming together for the first time to bring Jane Anderson’s beautiful script that illuminates the human condition to life, will be magic. I am also thrilled to work alongside the remarkable team at See-Saw. They have an amazing track record of making artist-driven stories, and we couldn’t be in better hands."
This is all that's been revealed about Strange Arrivals at the moment. More information is expected to be unveiled as the film moves further into production. Stay tuned to 1428 Elm!
