Lucy prevents the Sweetly Slasher from killing Summer in Time Cut
Unfortunately, Lucy is unable to prevent Brian and Val's deaths from happening at the mall by the Sweetly Slasher. However, she is able to successfully save Emmy's life at the Marine Museum. Knowing that Summer is the final victim of the killer and her murder is next, Lucy teams up with Quinn once again to save her.
Initially, she decides to let Summer's fate stay the same after she learns that she wouldn't exist if Summer lived. But after getting to know Summer, Lucy changes her mind. She couldn't live knowing she let her sister die. Lucy tells Summer this before coming up with a plan to stop her from getting murdered. She also comes up with a plan to get back to her timeline
While Lucy and Quinn break into SONR to get a canister filled with antimatter to boot up the time machine, Summer attends Spring Fling and lures the Sweetly Slasher to the barn. However, once they break into the SONR lab, Lucy and Quinn find a slain guard and one of the canisters missing. After putting two and two together, they realize that the killer has been there and that he stole the canister because the time machine is his. The killer is from the future!
But who exactly is the killer? Lucy and Quinn steal one of the canisters filled with antimatter and leave SONR to go save Summer. Just as the killer is about to kill Summer with a scythe, Lucy and Quinn ram through the barn in a car and run him over. Summer jumps into a haystack to not get hit.
Lucy hops out of the car and rushes Summer into the vehicle before jumping back in. As they are about to leave, they notice that the killer is waking up. The killer walks towards the car and takes off his mask. It's Quinn! Quinn is the killer! Good Quinn puts the car in reverse, and they drive away back to his garage, where the time machine is.
Once they make it to the garage, Lucy tells Quinn and Summer that they need to distract future Quinn once he arrives while she powers up the time machine. As Lucy places the canister in the correct place to boot up the time machine, future Quinn works on getting in the garage. He finally bursts through the door, and Lucy, Summer, and Quinn stand around the garage, looking fearful.
Future Quinn explains to them why he killed Summer and her friends, and it was all because he was tired of being picked on, and Summer rejecting him at the Spring Fling was the last straw. Just as future Quinn is about to lunge at Quinn and Summer with a knife, the time machine completely boots up, and Lucy runs to grab him while Quinn and Summer run out the door.
Lucy and future Quinn time-travel back to the present time (April 18, 2024) and land in a parking garage. They start scuffling before Lucy gets the upper hand by electrocuting future Quinn when he lunges at her with a knife. He stabs his knife into the EV charger Lucy holds in her hand, causing him to be electrocuted. With future Quinn knocked out on the floor, Lucy looks around the parking garage and notices that the time machine is powered off.
She then looks at future Quinn and sees a canister filled with antimatter in his jacket pocket. As she reaches for the canister, future Quinn wakes up, and she quickly grabs the knife next to him and fatally stabs him in the chest. He's officially dead.
The movie then cuts back to the past (April 18, 2003), where Summer and Quinn sit outside the garage talking about what just happened and how much they're going to miss Lucy. Lucy suddenly appears behind them after using the canister to time-travel back to 2003. She tells Summer and Quinn that she decided to stay with them in the past after realizing that that's where she's meant to be.
We then see a montage of scenes showing Lucy getting accepted into an internship program at NASA and becoming close friends with Quinn, Summer and Emmy being an official couple, and Lucy fitting right on in with her and Summer's parents. Now, she has a new and much better outlook on life.
