The latest thriller from Steven Soderbergh will be available to watch at home this week, starting on Tuesday, February 25. On that day, Presence will launch digitally, allowing anyone to rent or purchase the movie from digital retailers. The film's physical release will follow on May 20, with Presence coming to 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD.

Presence made its debut at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, receiving critical acclaim thanks to its unique approach to the supernatural genre. Unlike most paranormal thrillers, Presence is told from the perspective of the entity. The entire movie is shot in several long takes as we follow a troubled family struggling to contend with the poltergeist inhabiting their new home.

The family at the center of this story is played by Lucy Liu and Chris Sullivan, while Julia Fox also stars as the realtor who sells them their new house. Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, and West Mulholland also star.

Distributor Neon has become known for releasing compelling and original horror films. The company is also frequently praised for its ingenious marketing campaigns, like for this year's The Monkey. For Presence, part of the campaign involved creating a billboard in downtown Manhattan featuring Fox's character and a phone number, which went on to receive more than 1,500 voicemails.

Presence was filmed in New Jersey and written by David Koeep (Jurassic Park). The story revolves around an unseen spectral being moving through a home newly inhabited by a family in turmoil. Viewers get to watch the family through the eyes of this entity as it travels "uneasy and unseen" from room to room.

Critics have praised this slow-burn thriller as an inventive movie that a "uniquely thrilling ghost story" and "devilishly clever."

Other horror movies released by Neon include Longlegs, Cuckoo, Immaculate, Titane, Possessor, and more. Many horror fans have praised Neon for becoming another indie distributor to rival even A24.

No details have been shared about the Blu-ray or possible extras that might be included, but stay tuned to 1428 Elm for more details on the film and its physical release. When the movie arrives on digital, it will cost $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to purchase. The digital price will likely drop when the film comes out on Blu-ray/DVD.
