A new teen comedy titled Hot Ted is in the works, and it's set to star well-known actors such as Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Sweetpea), Billy Magnussen (Black Mirror, Lilo & Stitch), and Ariana Greenblatt (Fear Street: Prom Queen, Love and Monsters).

You're probably wondering how this movie relates to horror. While Hot Ted isn't exactly a horror movie, it has horror elements, revolving around a potential serial killer on the loose and the main character trying to uncover the truth. Hannah Levy, known for their work on Saturday Night Live, is signed as director, marking this as their feature directorial debut. Grace McLeod pens the script.

Billy Magnussen, Shane Andries, and Anne Hollister are producing the film for HappyBad Bungalow, while Javier Chapa and Phillip Braun are producing for Mucho Mas Media. Besides starring in the movie, Purnell will produce as well. Executive producers include Morgan Cano-Long, Robert Muñoz, Dave Bishop, James Pugh, and George Hamilton. In addition, Protagonist Pictures is handling worldwide sales and will present the project to buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

Described as Mean Girls meets American Psycho, Hot Ted follows true-crime podcast lover Zoe, who is reluctantly sent to Shady Pines Camp for the summer by her parents. When camp counselor Liz goes missing one morning and is said to have left for a "family emergency," Zoe is skeptical. She begins to suspect fellow counselor Ted is responsible for Liz's vanishing, as he fits the profile of a textbook serial killer. The only problem is that he's ridiculously attractive, making it hard to believe that he could actually be dangerous. Zoe then takes it upon herself to launch an investigation with her friends, determined to uncover the truth.

Greenblatt takes on the lead role of Zoe, while Purnell plays Amy, a camp counselor who becomes the object of Zoe's affections. Magnussen portrays the role of the attractive yet mysterious camp counselor, Ted. They're the only actors attached to the film so far.
