It appears that the creator of the 2022 horror film Barbarian has achieved success once again. The initial reviews for the highly anticipated movie Weapons have received a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that all critics who have reviewed it so far have given it a positive rating.

Weapons, which opens in theaters on August 8, is the story of a town grappling with the mysterious disappearance of a classroom full of children. The disappearance occurred in the middle of the night-- at 2:17 am-- where video cameras picked up the children running full speed, not underdress, from their houses. Only one child is left behind, a lonely boy named Alex (Cary Christopher). Josh Brolin stars as the father of one of the missing children who is determined to find the truth, and Julia Garner as the missing children's teacherJustine Gandy. Law enforcement questions Alex, but he remains silent. Meanwhile, Justine is compelled to take a leave of absence from Maybrook Elementary. Although she is eager to help in the search for her students, her presence only prompts the parents to push her away. So, where ARE the children?

Zach Cregger, the writer, director, producer, and composer for the movie, debuted with Barbarian in 2022, which, like Weapons, received critical acclaim and holds 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Barbarian, a twisted Airbnb horror story, follows Tess (Georgina Campbell), who discovers the house she's renting has been double-booked. The other guest, Keith (Bill Skarsgård), is a nice enough man who gives up the only bedroom for the evening to Tess. Just when you think it's going in the romcom direction, hell breaks loose. While Barbarian had its share of gross-out scares that may have made you chuckle, critic reviews suggest that Weapons has even more stomach-turning and gruesome moments, accompanied by humor.

The marketing the production team has come up with is incredibly fascinating and interactive. The website maybrookmissing.com has a plethora of "news items" on the mystery, hidden meanings, and curious cursor choices, and even a hot dog recipe. Hilariously, there's even a news article on the happenings in Barbarian, evidence of both movies taking place in the same universe. Warner Bros. released a promotional video highlighting its certified fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. It's so intense that it grabs your attention immediately. While it might be seen as a spoiler, this terrifying clip is hard to resist watching. See the clip below.
