Evil Dead: Call Henrietta! Ted Raimi returns to Flashback Weekend

Ted Raimi has been added to the lineup for Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Con. The con takes over the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, IL August 2 – 4, 2019.

The last time we saw Ted Raimi he was on Shudder’s Dead Wax. He played Ian Ullman, a mentor teaching a young detective how to track down a dangerous record. And, you know, how to break into house if need be. What? It happens.

Raimi also made a memorable appearance in the last movie of Joe Bob Briggs’ Dinners of Death marathon that also aired on Shudder on Thanksgiving night. He played an aggressive condom salesman staked out in a drive-in bathroom at the beginning of Blood Rage. Darcy the Mail Girl even cosplayed as Raimi’s condom salesman in the last segment of the marathon.

This isn’t the first time Raimi will be appearing at Flashback Weekend. The last time he was there was in 2016. He was promoting Ash vs Evil Dead with the great Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends).

Raimi is a fan favorite. He makes time for his fans and enjoys engaging with us. Based on his social media, the only time he really walks away from his table is to walk the floor at the cons.

Since Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) is already confirmed for Flashback Weekend, I wonder if Raimi’s addition could mean we get an Evil Dead II reunion. As most horror fans know, he played possessed Henrietta in the 1987 classic.

More from Conventions

I’d love to see an Ash vs Evil Dead reunion, as well. Dana DeLorenzo and Ray Santiago were big hits at the most recent Flashback Weekend. It would be awesome to see all of the Ghostbeaters reunited in Chicago. Raimi played happy go lucky bartender Chet on season two of Ash vs Evil Dead. Chet just wanted to spend some quality time with his old buddy Ash at Mammary Lane. But, Baal had other ideas.

Whatever happens, I can tell you this: I’m excited to meet Ted Raimi at Flashback this coming August. The lineup is shaping up to be something special.

Discount hotel accommodations are already available at the Crown Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. There is free shuttle service to and from O’Hare Airport.

One of the newest additions to Flashback Weekend is the Murray Brothers Caddyshack restaurant located within the hotel. It’s owned and run by Bill Murray and his brothers. It’s named and themed after the classic 1980 comedy Caddyshack. They offer a special horror themed menu during the con.

Tickets and VIP packages aren’t on sale, yet. Check back with Flashback Weekend over the coming months. This is going to be a good one.
