Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel casts reunite at Wizard World Portland
By Carla Davis
It was a Sunnydale High class reunion last weekend, when the casts of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel reunited at Wizard World Portland Comic Con.
If there is one place in the world I wish I could have been this past Sunday, it’s Wizard World Portland Comic Con. That’s where a sizeable portion of the casts of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel had a Sunnydale reunion, and cast members were tweeting warm, fuzzy photos throughout.
According to Deadline, the big players not present were Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy), David Boreanaz (Angel) and show creator Joss Whedon (but even Whedon tweeted about the reunion). There were still plenty of Buffy favorites on hand, however, and lucky attendees were treated to a panel discussion featuring Alyson Hannigan (Willow), Amber Benson (Tara), James Marsters (Spike), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Nicholas Brendon (Xander), Julie Benz (Darla), Iyari Limon (Kennedy), Amy Acker (Fred), James Leary (Clem), Clare Kramer (Glory), and Alexis Denisof (Wesley).

Juliet Landau (Drusilla) was also scheduled to appear, but had to cancel, and James Marster’s appearance was up in the air for a short time. On Jan. 28, Marsters tweeted: “I just received sad news concerning Wizard World’s Portland convention. For reasons that are confusing to me they have cancelled my appearance. I was really excited to meet the good people of Portland, and to hang out with all of my many fellow cast mates from ‘Buffy’.”
Later that same day, he tweeted:
"“WW has really pulled out all the stops to make Portland a Buffy extravaganza, and I was really looking forward to celebrating the show. I know it will be a great experience for all those who attend. I look forward to hearing about it, but I won’t be included in the line up.”"

Nerdy Life of Mine’s Jason Bucky Roberts wrote:
"“With an outcry from his fans trying to figure out why he was removed from the line up, I personally went to the PR that I go through for my press pass and asked him. He didn’t have any idea as to why he was dropped."
But all was well the next day, with Marsters tweeting:
"“After seeing the concern and love from everyone last night, both me and @WizardWorld’s management have mutually worked things out. I’m so happy to announce that I will still be attending Wizard World Portland! I’m very excited for this Buffy extravaganza and seeing you there!”"
The cast members look affectionate and positively giddy in the heavily-tweeted photos. My personal favorite was posted by Nicholas Brendon, a photo of he and Charisma Carpenter captioned:
"“I love me some CC. Xander and Cordy forever! I’m sorry I kissed Willow. #forgive me"
In a full group photo posted on Instagram by Carpenter, some of the cast members are instantly recognizable (Alyson Hannigan clearly struck a deal with the devil, and never ages), while others were a little harder to figure out (Amber Benson looks great, but not like the Tara I remember). All looked happy to be together, and I only wish I had been there to see it.
I want to hear from any of our readers who attended the panel at Wizard World Portland! Was it everything I think it was? How did the “Scooby Gang” look up close and personal?
