Season 9 of American Horror Story has come to an end and fans are dying to know what the theme of Season 10 will be. We have a few ideas.

Now that Season 9 of American Horror Story is officially over, everyone is trying to figure out what the theme of the upcoming tenth season will be. Creator Ryan Murphy is staying mum, as usual. That said, he has dropped a few helpful tidbits about what we could see from the new — and potentially final — season of the franchise.

During a recent interview with TVGuide, Murphy told fans to pay close attention to the eighth episode of AHS: 1984. The folks at Newsweek pointed the following line, in a conversation between Donna and Brooke that occurs in the episode.

"Back in the ’70s, all anyone cared about was Bigfoot, aliens, the Loch Ness Monster—all that Leonard Nimoy In Search Of sh*t."

Does that mean Season 10 of American Horror Story will finally tackle aliens? Fans have been wondering about whether or not Murphy would do a legitimate alien storyline ever since Season 2 of the series added in an extraterrestrial subplot.

Despite Asylum often being cited as one of the best seasons, many were disappointed by the alien storyline that went nowhere.

Season 10 could be Murphy’s chance to do a story about UFOs and aliens right. However, we have another theory in mind.

Whenever people guess the upcoming themes for American Horror Story, they often think of only one entity. Still, if there is anything Ryan Murphy loves, it’s a good twist and multiple plots coinciding — for better or for worse.

Let’s not leave out the mention of Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster from that quote above. Yes, aliens would be cool, but wouldn’t it be even better for Murphy to do a season about people who are obsessed with cryptids?

He could do a season that focuses on a group of people that try to hunt Big Foot and other infamous urban legends.

Murphy spoke with a reporter at Deadline recently and gave us some more insight about what he’s thinking about doing for Season 10. When asked about adding aliens into the show again, Murphy gave us an interesting quote to ponder.

"We flirted with aliens, we flirted with space, we flirted with some things that were more interesting than others. I think that at the heart of it, it’s always about Americana. It would be hard to do something like that idea you mention, not that I wouldn’t."

My eye went to the line, “it’s always about Americana.” I get the impression that if Murphy decides to tackle aliens, he’s not going to do it in a way we expect. I doubt it would be an entire season in space or about abductions entirely (again that was somewhat covered in Asylum). I think the best way for him to do it would be to focus on cryptozoology as a whole.

After all, what’s more American than an old-fashioned urban legend?
