The Conjuring 3 title was revealed yesterday on Instagram by none other than James Wan. The Devil Made Me Do It is the latest installment in the franchise. Here is what we know about the Michael Chaves film so far…

The Conjuring 3 received its official title yesterday with a reveal by James Wan on his Instagram account. In related news, Deadline reported that the first teaser for The Devil Made Me Do It premiered at the Comic Con Experience in Sao Paulo, Brazil this past weekend.

For months, there had been some speculation on the subject matter of this particular installment in the franchise. Fans wondered whether it would deal with the famous Arne Cheyenne Johnson murder trial or another Warren investigation that had to do with a werewolf.

Patrick Wilson in a recent interview, intimated to The Hollywood Reporter that The Conjuring 3 was “A different beast. Pun intended.” This led people to believe that he may have been referencing the Bill Ramsey case.

Ed and Lorraine Warren found Ramsey to be possessed by a demon that manifested as a werewolf. An exorcism was performed and captured on film. The couple later wrote a book detailing the experience entitled, Werewolf.

However, as it turns out, The Devil Made Me Do It will deal with the Arne Cheyenne Johnson case. This supernatural nightmare began when Arne and his girlfriend Debbie Glatzel moved into their dream home. Of course, this dwelling just happened to be inhabited by a demonic presence. Somehow or other, Debbie’s little brother David became the target of the paranormal activity.

The Warrens were called in to assess the situation. They immediately sprang into action and even had priests from the nearby parish perform deliverances on David which are like “mini-Exorcisms.” Finally, the situation reached its breaking point and Arne who had been helping with David throughout the ordeal challenged the demons to enter him. Supposedly, they did.

So, when he ended up getting in an altercation with his landlord, Alan Bono (who was also Debbie’s employer), he stabbed him to death. Johnson was the first ever to use as a reason for a not guilty plea, “the devil made me do it,” hence, the title of the movie.

From the description of the clip that was shown at CCXP by Deadline, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It sounds terrifying!

"“The Warrens are in a morgue and lift the sheet off a dead body which is freshly decomposing. Lorraine touches the dead body’s hand to see if she could get a reading — but she can’t.Scares begin to bubble up when the lights mysteriously shut off. Ed turns the lights back on and Lorraine is in a daze over the body. We see a dark figure standing behind Ed and it turns out to be the decomposed body which begins moving in an ever so creepy way — and then it cuts to the black before you can fit in a jump scare.”"
