Fear Street Part 1, Till Death & more horror releasing this weekend, July 2-4

Yes, it’s the holiday weekend but more importantly, it’s another horror-filled weekend with lots of new entries arriving in theaters, VOD, and streaming services! The first of a new month is always exciting because it’s when streaming services typically had lots of films to their catalogs and there is no shortage of horror movies this July.

Fear Street Part 1 on Netflix, July 2

Perhaps the biggest release this weekend is the start of Netflix’s horror movie event of the summer. Fear Steet Part 1: 1994 is the first of a trilogy based on R.L. Stine’s book series of the same name. The films are rated R and more gory and violent than the books themselves, which were geared toward teenagers.

This film introduces us to a group of teenagers in Shadyside, Ohio, who start to realize something dark and ominous is happening in their town. The second and third movies will be released on July 9 and July 16, respectively.

The Forever Purge in theaters, July 2

The Forever Purge is the latest entry this horror franchise. Following up from the previous film, the purge is now outlawed but not everyone is listening to that new rule. The film focuses on a Mexican couple on the run from a drug cartel and thugs who intend to continue purging despite the change in law.

Till Death on VOD, July 2

Megan Fox returns to the horror genre with Till Death this weekend, which will release on demand tomorrow. In the film, Fox plays Emma, a woman shackled to her dead husband who must find a way to escape before the killers return.

Werewolves Within on VOD, July 2

We recently reviewed Werewolves Within, a hilarious horror comedy film based on the Ubisoft VR game of the same name. The film hits VOD this weekend and is a really enjoyable watch and fun take on the whodunnit genre.

Evil Season 2, Episode 3 on Paramount+, July 4

Evil Season 2 continues this weekend with a brand new episode. Season 2, Episode 3, titled “F is for Fire,” will see Kristen flirt with trouble.
