12 new horror movies and shows releasing this week including Antlers and Hypnotic

The final week of October has a few more scary surprises in store before Halloween this Sunday night. The following list will take you through all of the notable new horror movies and television shows releasing on streaming, VOD and in theaters the week of October 25-31.

Some of the new horror movies releasing include long-awaited films like Antlers and Last Night in Soho. Netflix also has Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight Pt. 2, Hypnotic and the Army of Darkness prequel Army of Thieves coming out between Wednesday and Friday. On Shudder, you’ll find the follow-up to Horror Noire in a terrifying anthology film and the fascinating docuseries Behind the Monsters.

New horror on Shudder this week

This week Shudder brings us Behind the Monsters, a docuseries that takes us behind some of the most iconic horror legends in the genre, including Chucky, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Pinhead and more. The series starts streaming on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

On Thursday, Oct. 28, you can watch the new Horror Noire anthology film, a follow-up to the successful Shudder documentary, which combines six horrific tales from Black filmmakers and emerging talents.

New horror movies on Netflix this week

Kate Siegel appears in the new thriller Hypnotic, which starts streaming on Wednesday, Oct. 27. This film is the first Siegel has done in a while that isn’t a collaboration between herself and her husband, horror icon Mike Flanagan. Siegel plays a young woman who seeks help from a hypnotist. Dulé Hill and Jason O’Mara also star.

Also arriving on Netflix on Wednesday, Oct. 27 is Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight Part 2, a sequel to the Polish horror movie that came out last year. On Friday, Oct. 29, you can watch the Army of the Dead prequel, Army of Thieves, which focuses on Dieter and a heist he pulled off across Europe.

New horror movies in theaters this week

After more than a year of waiting, the Guillermo del Toro-produced film Antlers, starring Keri Russell and Jessie Plemons, will be released in theaters this week on Friday, Oct. 29. Initially slated for an April 2020 debut, Antlers was pushed back twice due to the pandemic. Russell plays a schoolteacher who becomes concerned when she learns a young boy in her class is keeping a supernatural creature at home.

Edgar Wright’s highly anticipated psychological horror Last Night in Soho is finally coming out on Friday, Oct. 29. Similar to Antlers, Wright’s feature was also repeatedly delayed due to the pandemic.

Anya Taylor-Joy stars as a young woman named Eloise who is transported back in time to 1966, where she finds herself inside the body of an iconic nightclub singer. But Eloise soon discovers that the singer’s life is not as glamorous as it appears to be at first glance.

More new horror releasing this week

The newest entry in the blockbuster Paranormal Activity franchise releases this week exclusively on Paramount+. You can watch Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, the seventh film in the series, on Friday, Oct. 29. This movie is considered a “soft” reboot of the franchise.

If you’re in the mood for science-fiction, The CW’s reboot of the 2004 series The 4400 starts tonight. Simply called 4400, the new series follows a group of 4,400 people who vanish from various eras across time only to reappear simultaneously at the same place in 2021.

The Spine of Night is an ultra-violent adult animated feature coming to VOD on Friday, Oct. 29. It has an impressive voice cast featuring Betty Gabriel, Joe Manganiello, Patton Oswalt, Richard E. Grant and Lucy Lawless.

They’re Outside releases on VOD this Friday, too. The creepy film is about a famous psychologist trying to make a documentary about an agoraphobic woman. They soon learn they are surrounded by something dark and supernatural.

As part of the ongoing Terror on Tubi, the free streaming service will release a new film, Harland Manor, on Friday, Oct. 29. From Steven R. Monroe, the director of  I Spit On Your Grave (2010), comes a new tale of paranormal investigators who go to check out the mysterious Harland Manor only to find evil ghosts dwelling there.
