2024 has been a killer year for slasher movie fans, with a fresh batch of slasher films that are bloodier than ever. Overall, the slasher genre is alive and kicking with fresh terror this year, and we're here to share five of the best ones to be released.

Terrifier 3 is hands down the goriest horror film of the year. Serving as a sequel to Terrifier 2, the story continues to follow the infamous serial killer Art the Clown as he wreaks havoc on Miles County. But instead of his killing spree taking place on Halloween night, like in the first two films, the third film's story is set in the days leading up to Christmas.

Art the Clown has some help this time around to assist him on his bloody rampage, a possessed Victoria Heyes. It's up to Sienna Shaw to put a stop to the sadistic killer clown once and for all. Well, if that's possible...

In a Violent Nature

When a group of teens discovers and takes a locket in a collapsed fire tower deep in the woods, they unintentionally awaken Johnny, a vengeful spirit. The reanimated corpse then embarks on a relentless and bloody quest to reclaim the stolen locket, leaving a trail of gruesome murders in his wake.

To wrap the X trilogy, the slasher MaXXXine was released by A24 in July. This film takes place six years after the events that occurred in X (2022). We follow the only survivor of the farmhouse massacre in 1979, Maxine Minx, who is set on getting her big break in Hollywood as an actress. But when she becomes the target of a mysterious killer, her dreams become threatened.

After being given what seems like an easy job of kidnapping a young girl and holding her hostage for ransom in an isolated mansion, a group of criminals are shocked to discover that the young girl is not human but a centuries-old vampire named Abigail. Now trapped in the mansion, the criminals must do everything they can to survive the night as Abigail seeks her bloody revenge.
