Calling all horror enthusiasts! Are you looking for something entertaining to watch? If so, you should check out our list below of some of the most underrated slashers. These horror movies just didn't get the recognition they deserved, so we decided to put a spotlight on them.

Hush (2016)

  • Directed by: Mike Flanagan
  • Written by: Flanagan and Kate Siegel
  • Where to watch: Hush is coming to digital on Aug. 27, 2024

Hush might have received positive reviews from critics when it hit Netflix back in April 2016, but it just doesn't get mentioned enough when discussing some of the best slashers, and that's a problem in my book.

It stars scream queen Kate Siegel as a successful deaf-mute horror author who finds herself entangled in a cat-and-mouse game with a masked intruder who breaks into her home late one night. John Gallagher Jr., Michael Trucco, Samantha Sloyan, and Emma Graves join Siegel in the cast.

Maniac is a pretty disturbing slasher, so it might not be for everyone. It centers around a twisted psychopath with a traumatic past as he goes on a killing spree in New York City. Growing up, Frank was abused as a child by his neglectful mother. This significantly impacted his psychological state, ultimately leading him to become a serial killer who stalks, murders, and then scalps his victims. The late Joe Spinell stars in the leading role of Frank Zito.
