Another week full of exciting horror news and trailers is ahead of us. From announcing the release date of Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie to a new look at Kevin Bacon's upcoming horror series The Bondsman, there is plenty to look forward to in the coming months.

Below we've compiled some of this week's most notable announcements so that horror fans can keep track of everything on the horizon.

Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie set for September 2026

Sony's upcoming Resident Evil reboot from Barbarian director Zach Cregger has received an official release date! Deadline reports that the film will be released theatrically on September 18, 2026 and is expected to be more faithful to the original games.

Detractors of the previous Resident Evil films and the short-lived Netflix television show have long been frustrated with the deviation from the video game source material. It sounds like Cregger's version will lean fully into horror like the original Capcom series. Later games, and the movies, tended to veer toward action-horror vs. the survival horror of the early days.

Kathryn Newton joins Ready or Not sequel

The team behind the 2019 movie Ready or Not is returning for the sequel, including star Samara Weaving and directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (also known as Radio Silence). But this week we learned about an exciting addition to the cast: Kathryn Newton has been tapped to star opposite Weaving in the upcoming film.

Newton has been acting steadily since the early 2000s and really come into the spotlight in recent years with films like Freaky, Abigail, and Lisa Frankenstein. She even starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as Cassie Lang. Next, she'll appear in the psychological thriller DreamQuil alongside Elizabeth Banks, John C. Reilly, and Juliette Lewis.

The actress' fans have taken to calling her a modern-day scream queen, similar to Weaving, who has also starred in her fair share of horror movies. It'll be exciting to see Newton and Weaving together, especially as both actresses have previously collaborated with the Radio Silence team (Newton on Abigail and Weaving on the first Ready or Not and Scream 6).

Kevin Bacon is The Bondsman

Kevin Bacon stars in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series The Bondsman, a new action-packed horror show that sees the Tremors star take on the role of Hub Halloran as he fights demons for the Devil. During his life, Hub made some critical mistakes that landed him in Hell upon death, but then he wakes up back in the real world and learns he'll have to take out an assortment of demons and play by the Devil's rules lest he wants to end up back in Hell. All eight episodes premiere on April 3.

Updates on The Last of Us show and video game franchise

The Last of Us show creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin sat down with Variety for a big behind-the-scenes special, teasing what fans can expect from the upcoming second season (premiering on April 13) when they tell a "different version" of the story presented in The Last of Us Part II.

Unfortunately for video game fans, however, Druckmann also said that there likely won't be a third part in the popular and acclaimed series, saying, "don't bet on there being more of Last of Us. This could be it."

Bambi and Rumpelstiltskin turn terrifying

Two more beloved characters from our childhood are taking a turn for the horrific in the upcoming movies Bambi: The Reckoning and Rumpelstiltskin. The Reckoning is the latest public domain horror movie set within the Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU), which also includes the Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey movies. A new trailer teases Bambi's bloody revenge against those who killed his mom.

Rumpelstiltskin is based on the classic fairy tale story and actually isn't the first horror movie to be made about that particularly character. The latest movie follows a princess who makes multiple dark deals with the imp-like being to turn straw into gold.

New trailer for Blumhouse film The Woman in the Yard

The latest trailer for the upcoming Blumhouse film The Woman in the Yard has bumped this movie up on my list of ones I'm most anticipating this month. A woman clad in all black appears outside of a family's house, indicating that someone summoned her and she's prepared to take what she's owed. In this trailer, it looks like she's able to get inside of the house using her shadows, which is why she only comes out in the daylight. More on The Woman in the Yard. In theaters on March 28.
