Ready to head back to Shadyside? The next chapter in the Fear Street saga is coming soon, and Netflix has just shared some exciting news about the film! Titled Fear Street: Prom Queen, the slasher has been given a summer 2025 release window. Plus, Netflix has dropped several new photos from the movie as well. Don't worry! We’ve got you covered and included all the images below.
When the Fear Street trilogy was released on Netflix in July 2021, there was no way of knowing it would be a hit. However, all three slashers quickly earned fan-favorite status, sparking curiosity among viewers about whether more films would be coming in the future.
In July 2022, we finally got our answer when creator of the Fear Street book series, R. L. Stine, announced that talks were underway for the development of more films beyond the original Fear Street trilogy. Then, in January 2024, we got confirmation that the next installment would be a film adaptation of Stine's book The Prom Queen. This movie would later be titled Fear Street: Prom Queen.
Produced by Chernin Entertainment, the upcoming Netflix slasher was directed by Matt Palmer. He also wrote the screenplay with Donald McLeary. The story takes place in the '80s at Shadyside High. Prom is approaching, and everyone's getting ready. For a group of popular female students, though, getting ready is only part of the challenge. To win the coveted title of prom queen, they need to gather the most votes. But that's not going to be easy when a new nominee enters the race and shakes things up. The other candidates start to mysteriously vanish. Could this new nominee have something to do with the disappearances?
You might recognize some of the actors in the cast, while others you might not be familiar with. You can expect to see talented actors such as India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Ariana Greenblatt, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston all appear in the film.

With a summer 2025 release confirmed, there's a good chance Fear Street: Prom Queen will be released in July. I mean, Netflix dropped the first three movies in the film series in that same month in 2021. Maybe the streamer will stick to this same release pattern for the new film. However, we're hoping for an early summer release, perhaps sometime in June. Once Netflix announces the official release date, you'll be the first to know.
