The real Heart Eyes Killer is not who you think

After multiple dangerous run-ins with the Heart Eyes Killer, Ally and Jay find themselves at a drive-in movie theater. They attempt to hide, but the killer finds them. As Heart Eyes begins slaughtering any couple who gets in their way, Ally and Jay decide that the killer isn't going to stop their relentless pursuit unless they take matters into their own hands. With nowhere left to run, they realize they have no choice but to fight back. After grabbing a nearby tire iron from a dead victim, Ally and Jay engage in a physical fight with Heart Eyes.

The killer gets the upper hand and knocks Jay out. As they're about to pierce their blade into him, Ally runs over and knocks the killer in the head with a heavy object. Heart Eyes starts choking her, and Jay reaches over and grabs the killer's blade. He stabs Heart Eyes in the chest, who then falls over onto the ground and dies. Ally pulls back their mask, and the killer turns out to be a young man. However, none of them knows who he is.

The killer is dead. It's time to celebrate, right? Wrong! Ally and Jay part ways, but not before Jay leaves her with his number. Ally really likes Jay and feels like she missed out on her chance to be with a great guy. After returning home and receiving a pep talk from her best friend Monica, Ally decides to take a chance and heads to the airport, hoping to catch Jay before he gets on his flight. But when she arrives, she doesn't find him.

As she waits outside the airport, she receives a call from an unknown number. It's the Heart Eyes Killer, and they have Jay! Wait, but who was the guy they just killed? Don't worry. We'll get to that in a bit. The killer demands that Ally meet them at St. Valentine's Chapel or they'll kill Jay. She must come alone, though.

Ally follows the instructions and enters the chapel, where she finds Jay standing with his hands bound and his mouth gagged with a towel. Heart Eyes is positioned behind him. The killer then pulls off their mask, revealing themselves as David, the IT guy Ally had met earlier at the police station. He's the killer, but he’s not the only one responsible. Ally demands to know who the person was they killed at the drive-in theater, and David reveals that it was Eli. Eli was another of the killers. Just as the truth begins to sink in, a third killer steps into the chapel, unmasking themselves as Detective Shaw. The three of them had been collaborating all along.

Detective Shaw and David are a married couple who get a kick out of murdering couples. They don't really have a motive, other than their shared sadistic thrill of watching others suffer. Eli was just a fanboy, so they recruited him to join their twisted game. Detective Shaw and David then give Ally an ultimatum. If she takes the gun they provided and kills Jay, then she's free to go. But if not, then she will die. Ally picks up the gun and shoots Detective Shaw in the torso area, but accidentally shoots Jay as well. A physical fight then breaks out between them and the killers.

Jay drives an arrow straight into David’s eye, causing him to stumble backward into a table covered in lit candles. The candles start burning him alive. However, he's not fully dead until Jay shoots him one last time with another arrow. Meanwhile, Ally gets the upper hand and stabs Detective Shaw in the neck with a metal straw. She then tackles and pushes her into the sword of a statue of St. Valentine. Detective Shaw ends up decapitated with her lifeless body falling to the chapel floor. Heart Eyes' reign of terror is now over, or is it? That post-credits scene might suggest otherwise...

Heart Eyes is now available to stream on Netflix.
