Who doesn't remember the dreadful "how you spent your summer vacation" writing assignment? Netflix's sneak peek into Wednesday's second season opener gives us some insight on how Wednesday spent hers.

On May 31, Netflix premiered the first six minutes of the Wednesday season two opening episode at their Netflix Tudum 2025 Live Event, where co-creator Alfred Gough admitted to asking himself the question, "What would Wednesday do during her summer vacation?" If you found yourself wondering the same, you're in luck, because the sneak peek gave us insights to just that.

Keeping within the woeful trend of season one titles, the season two opener, aptly named Here We Woe Again, starts zoomed in on Wednesday, gagged and tied to a chair with black tear stains while a haunting rendition of "My Favorite Things" plays in the background. The camera zooms out revealing a tea party setting with creepy dolls serving as guests. "It's been an eventful summer." Wednesday tells us, continuing with "I'm tied up in a serial killer's basement. Who said nightmares don't come true?" A genuinely Wednesday response.

So, how did Wednesday spend her summer vacation? Mastering her psychic abilities and sleuthing, of course. Wednesday divulges to us that she mastered her psychic abilities studying her ancestor, Goody Addams' Codex Umbrarum or Book of Shadows. And while there is no confirmation, speculation that the name Goody Addams could be a nod to the real history of Sarah Good and the Salem witch trials is one of my favorite possible easter eggs of season one.

Upon mastering her psychic skills, Wednesday decides to use them to hunt down the Kansas City Scalper, a serial killer we learn she has been obsessed with since the age of six (which I can only suspect is an acknowledgement to the age of Wednesday Addams in the original tv series). In a playful flashback, we see Wednesday sharing her crime board with her classmates at a show and tell, reminiscent of the crime board she shows Enid in season one episode 4 Woe What a Night. Clearly, Wednesday has been making crime boards for most of her life.

The behind the scenes with co-creators Gough and Millar introduces us to two subplots within this season of Wednesday. First, we are introduced to Chet (Haley Joel Osment), the beauty school drop out turned dog groomer and potential serial killer, who Gough states is "obsessed with hair." Second, hints are dropped that something may have gone wrong during Wednesday's efforts in mastering her psychic ability.
