Described as a "sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma," the third season will follow the plot of The Vampire Lestat.

More monsters and stirring memories are on the way. Interview with the Vampire has been renewed for season 3 at AMC!

Based on Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles series, Interview with the Vampire first premiered to critical acclaim in October 2022, with its second season kicking off this past May. Critics have praised season 2 as even better than the first, with fans and journalists alike calling it "must-watch television."

1428 Elm has learned that season 3 will center on Sam Reid's Lestat, who has grown bitter and resentful over the popularity of bestseller "Interview with the Vampire." He sets out to tell his side of the story by becoming a rock star, joining a band and going on tour.

The third season will introduce vampire progenitors, Those Who Must Be Kept, featuring characters like Gabrielle, Nicholas, Magnus, and Marius. AMC teases more characters they can't reveal just yet—like the Queen of the Damned herself, Akasha, she asked hopefully?

Book readers know this plot is from the second book in the series, The Vampire Lestat. AMC describes season 3 as "a sexy pilgrimage across space, time and trauma."

This renewal marks the continued expansion of AMC's Anne Rice Immortal Universe, which also includes Mayfair Witches and the recently greenlit series The Talamasca. Mayfair Witches will return for its second season in 2025.

AMC recently extended its overall deal with showrunner Rolin Jones, signifying good things to come from this expansive universe.

"Thank you to the brilliant casts and crews of the first two seasons that got us to this day. Thank you to the rabid, beautifully unwell fandom that scaled the castle walls to get us to this day. Thank you to Dan McDermott, Ben Davis for the funds and tools to continue the great work of dramatizing Anne Rice’s extraordinary novels. And sincere apologies to the family and friends of actor Sam Reid, for the possession that continues to this day. Monsieur L extends his promise to return his body upon cancellation (may that evening never come)."

As revered as Interview with the Vampire is, the series still isn't getting the mainstream attention it deserves. Hopefully the season 3 renewal will help attract more viewers, along with the rumored news that the series will be added to Netflix soon, along with other AMC shows like Preacher and Fear the Walking Dead. If ever a show needed a boost from the fabled "Netflix bump," it's this one.

The Interview with the Vampire season 2 finale premieres this Sunday, June 30, exclusively on AMC and AMC+. To stay up to date on thrillers, sci-fi, and horror, bookmark 1428 Elm and follow our Facebook page and Twitter account!
