We have more good news to report about the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, and it's news we've all been patiently waiting for. Freddie Prinze Jr. has just been confirmed to reprise his role as Ray Bronson from I Know What You Did Last Summer and its 1998 sequel in the upcoming reboot. This news comes after learning that Bodies Bodies Bodies star Chase Sui Wonders is in talks to join the cast.

We first learned of Prinze Jr.'s potential involvement in the film back in February 2023 when the reboot was announced to be in early development at Sony. At the time, it was reported that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson would be directing the film from a script written by Leah McKendrick.

Additionally, Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt, who starred in the leading role of Julie James in I Know What You Did Last Summer and its 1998 sequel, were announced to be in talks to reprise their roles in the reboot. But we hadn't heard anything else about their potential involvement after that. Now, over a year later, we finally have confirmation of Prinze Jr.'s return. Hewitt is believed to still be in negotiations to come back.

Prinze Jr. will be joining the already-announced cast, which includes Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King. Riverdale's Camila Mendes was a cast member initially but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. As mentioned above, Wonders is currently in discussions about joining the movie's cast. Brandy Norwood, who played Karla in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, is also in talks to reprise her role in the reboot, which is set for a July 18, 2025 theatrical release.

Unfortunately, plot details for the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot are still being kept secret. Also, it's currently unknown when the cast and crew will start shooting the film. What we do know is that Robinson is still signed on to direct, except she'll be directing from a screenplay that she co-wrote with Sam Lansky. In addition, Neal Moritz is signed on to the movie as a producer.
