ID will debut Kevin Spacey documentary Spacey Unmasked next week

True Crime network Investigation Discovery (ID) is releasing an explosive documentary about the multiple allegations against actor Kevin Spacey. Spacey went from being one of the best-known American actors in film and television to becoming a virtual recluse by 2017.
Genre film fans know Kevin Spacey from films such as The Usual Suspects, Seven, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and A Time to Kill (among others). He also appeared in the hit Netflix series House of Cards, where he portrayed power-hungry politician Frank Underwood.
In October of 2017, actor Anthony Rapp (who originated the role of Mark in the Broadway production of Rent) accused Spacey of sexual misconduct. The incident allegedly occurred at a party when Rapp was 14 years old, and Spacey was 26.
Spacey soon spoke about the accusation, choosing that time to come out as gay. He claimed to not remember the incident, but said that if it did happen, he felt he owed Rapp “the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.” Many people felt that the public apology should not have been watered down by his decision to come out, and felt it was an attempt to deflect from his behavior.
Spacey’s career went into a tailspin after the accusation, and several other men began to come forward with similar stories. Eight people who worked with Spacey on House of Cards spoke up, claiming similar stories of abuse and misconduct.
After losing upcoming acting gigs, Spacey went on radio silence, and laid low for a number of years. He recently was acquitted in London on sex abuse charges, and only days ago, denied new allegations made against him.
The new documentary, titled Spacey Unmasked will make its debut on Monday, May 13 at 9/8c on ID. It will also be available to watch via streaming on Max.
Spacey Unmasked will dig into various allegations made against him over the past thirty years. It will feature interviews from several men in the UK and the US, including people who worked with him during his tenure at London’s Old Vic Theater. ID claims that Spacey Unmasked “unpacks the dangerous power dynamic within the entertainment industry that allowed for these men’s stories to previously go unheard.”
Also interviewed is Spacey’s older brother Randall Fowler, who will give viewers insite their childhood years.
ID's most recent documentary was Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, which made quite a stir by exposing the power plays and sexual abuse of crew members on Nickelodeon's kids' shows of the 1990s - early 2000s.
Singled out were showrunner Dan Schneider and dialogue coach Brian Peck. Drake & Josh star Drake Bell was sexually assaulted by Peck when he was 14 years old. With the outcry caused after the airing of Quiet on Set, it remains to be seen if Spacey Unmasked will have a similar reception.
