Joel McHale joins Yellowjackets cast for its upcoming third season

The cast and crew are currently hard at work shooting the highly anticipated Yellowjackets season 3, and fans can't wait to see what the new season will be about. The second season ended on a shocking cliffhanger, with the survivors in the past timeline losing their shelter in a fire. Then, when it came to the present timeline, a fan-favorite character met a tragic demise. It'll be interesting to see how the story continues in the third season and what new characters will be introduced.

In fact, we've just learned of a new cast addition for Yellowjackets season 3. Well-known actor and comedian Joel McHale has reportedly joined the Yellowjackets cast for its third season. He's best known for previously hosting the comedy TV series The Soup. You might also recognize him from his previous roles in the TV shows Community, The Great Indoors and Stargirl. He also starred in movies such as Spider-Man 2, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, The Happytime Murders and Queenpins.

He currently stars in the lead role of Frank Shaw in the Fox comedy sitcom Animal Control and as chef David Fields in the comedy-drama series The Bear. He also hosts the Fox reality competition series Crime Scene Kitchen, which is set to come back with its third season on Sept. 26, 2024. In Yellowjackets season 3, McHale takes on a guest role. Unfortunately, who he will be playing in the horror-thriller series is unknown at the moment since no character details have been revealed.

Will his character be involved in the 1996 timeline or the present timeline? If he's in the past timeline, he could be another survivor that the Yellowjackets run into while out in the wilderness. If he's in the present, maybe he could be a new love interest for one of the ladies. Or perhaps just someone they encounter who helps them out. Who knows, maybe he'll turn out to be an antagonist. We'll soon find out when Yellowjackets season 3 premieres on Showtime sometime in 2025.

McHale isn't new to the horror genre at all, having previously starred in horror films such as Deliver Us from Evil, Assassination Nation and It's a Wonderful Knife. He also played the role of Chris in the Netflix horror-comedy series Santa Clarita Diet. That being said, we have faith that he'll give an outstanding performance as whoever he's portraying in the horror-thriller series.
