Welcome to Derry showrunner to take over the Friday the 13th prequel series at Peacock

Despite some pretty significant setbacks, it looks like A24 and Peacock's planned Friday the 13th prequel series is still moving ahead. As we all know, it's not easy to kill Jason Voorhees!
The last reports on the show from May announced previous showrunner Bryan Fuller was reportedly fired from the project alongside his co-showrunner Jim Danger Gray (I recommend reading The Wrap's in-depth breakdown about what allegedly went down behind the scenes).
But now the tides have turned and it looks like Crystal Lake is getting back on track. Deadline reports that A24 has hired a new showrunner, Brad Caleb Kane. Kane has many notable television credits under his belt already, having previously worked on shows like Warrior, Black Sails, Fringe, and Tokyo Vice.
Notably, Kane is also a co-showrunner on another horror prequel series in the works, HBO's Welcome to Derry, which takes place in Stephen King's It universe and will see the return of Bill Skarsgard as the menacing clown Pennywise.
Story details about Crystal Lake are still under wraps, likely because the show is shifting creative directions after Fuller's ousting. In addition to showrunning, Kane is also now the official Crystal Lake series creator, writer, and executive producer.
Deadline shared a statement from the multi-hyphenate as he revealed he's been a big fan of the slasher since he saw Jason "squeeze a guy's eyeball out of its socket" when he was just eight years old!
"I knew my creative path was someday destined to converge with The Man Behind The Mask. Nothing defined my childhood more than growing up in the golden age of the slasher flick, and nothing’s defined the genre more than 'Friday The 13th.' I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to contribute a chapter to this iconic franchise, particularly with such fearless partners as Peacock and A24.
"
Outside of Crystal Lake, Horror Inc. recently launched a multi-platform expansion of the Friday the 13th universe, though it remains to be seen when and if we'll eventually get a new film due to the series' complicated legal issues.
Original screenwriter Victor Miller, who wrote the 1980 film that started it all, will serve as an executive producer on the Peacock series.
