Where you can stream Alien: Romulus after the sci-fi horror leaves theaters

One of the most highly anticipated horror movies of 2024 is now showing in theaters. Of course, we're talking about Alien: Romulus, and audiences everywhere are raving about this new installment in the successful Alien franchise. Here at 1428 Elm, we've already seen the sci-fi horror and we're encouraging every horror fanatic, especially all the Alien fans, to see it for themselves.

However, we know that some people aren't fans of movie theaters and would rather watch this movie at home. Well, we have good news to share with those people. Alien: Romulus will eventually head to a streaming service as well as be available on digital. Obviously, it won't be today or tomorrrow, but we're expecting the movie to be released both on streaming and digital by the end of the year.

So, which will come first? A digital or streaming release? To answer this question, the sci-fi horror flick will be available to rent or purchase on digital platforms first. We don't have an official digital release date just yet, but we have an idea of when it could possibly be available digitally. Since Alien: Romulus is being distributed by 20th Century Studios, we could look at other 20th Century Studios' movies that were recently released in theaters and how long it took for them to get a digital release.

We'll use Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as an example. This movie was released in theaters on May 10. It took 60 days from its theatrical release for the sci-fi action movie to be on digital. If Alien: Romulus were to follow a similar release pattern, we could be looking at a digital release sometime in October 2024.

Now, when it comes to a streaming release, Alien: Romulus's streaming home will be Hulu. This is where 20th Century Studios theatrical movies usually stream after theaters. We've seen previous theatrically released 20th Century Studios movies hit Hulu somewhere between 55 and 90 days after their theater debuts. If Alien: Romulus were to follow this same streaming release pattern, this means we could see it on Hulu somewhere between October and November 2024.

However, keep in mind that this is just a release prediction. The sci-fi horror film could come to Hulu earlier or later than what we predicted. Once the official streaming release date is announced, you'll be the first to know.

Alien: Romulus takes place between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). We follow a group of young space colonists who, while searching through an abandoned space outpost, encounter a deadly alien lifeform. Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu all star in this thrilling sci-fi horror flick.
