Orlando’s Spooky Empire announces additional guests for March convention
By Carla Davis
Orlando’s Spooky Empire horror con has announced a few more guests since my story from last week, and a couple of events as well. Spooky Empire presents their convention bi-annually, with March 22 – 24 being their first event this year.
Spooky Empire list of talent includes:
Ricou Browning, who played the Gill-man in Creature from the Black Lagoon, Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among Us in all of the under water scenes (other actors portrayed the creature in the land scenes). Browning is also the co-creator of the series Flipper.
Actor Carel Struycken joins Christina Ricci and Christopher Lloyd, who co-starred with him in The Addams Family and Addams Family Values. Struycken appeared as Lurch in both movies, and he also played the Giant in Twin Peaks and 2017’s Twin Peaks: The Return. Most recently he was seen in the Netflix movie Gerald’s Game as the Moonlight Man.
Eugene Clark will also be appearing. He played head zombie “Big Daddy” in Land of the Dead, and (trivia alert) he also appeared as Mufasa in the Ontario Broadway Production of The Lion King.
Edward Furlong will be joining the above talent as well. The star of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Pet Sematary 2 and American History X is a welcome addition for sci-fi and horror fans.

For events, Spooky Empire has announced a Clown March to be held on opening day, March 22. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best clown costumes and makeup, but there will also be makeup artists available to help you out if needed. Artists Dr. Skull, J.D. Ellis and Justin Davis will be on hand starting at 11:00 a.m. at Uno’s on International Drive. At 1:00, there will be a group walk to the Wyndham Resort to kick off the convention.
There will also be a Tattoo Festival running all weekend long, with multiple artists on hand, should you decide to get a new tattoo (appointments are required). Artists currently signed up are:
Annie Spore (Bullys Tattoo), Austen Dukes and Scott McSkimming (Atomic Tattoo), Erick Campion (Art & Ink), Joshua Greener (Rock City Tattoo), Rick Camla (Orlando Tattoo Company), and Tim Mitchell (The Body Gallery). The special guest artist will be Ryan Eternal of Ink Master Rivals.
