Bruce Campbell appeared on AMC’s Lodge 49 last year in a well-received three-episode arc as Southern California real estate magnate, Gary “Captain” Green. At 1428 Elm, we have learned that the actor has been submitted by the network for Emmy consideration.

Bruce Campbell appeared on AMC’s quirky hit series, Lodge 49 last year in a well-received three-episode arc as Long Beach real estate titan, Gary “Captain” Green. This was a “showcase” role for Campbell who was fresh off the cancellation of his STARZ series, Ash vs Evil Dead.

Gary was an enigmatic individual who was talked about in reverential whispers for most of the show until he made his jaw dropping entrance in a wading pool at the end of episode 7, The Solemn Duty of the Squire. All we really knew of his character prior to seeing him was that he owned half of Southern California and certain parts of Baja.

Straddling the moral line deftly, Green consorted with shady individuals and although he appeared successful and together on the outside, he was falling apart on the inside and his personal life was a shambles.

His marine biologist wife of many years, Brenda served him with divorce papers and he fell apart. Through a chance meeting with plumbing supply salesman, Ernie Fontaine (Brent Jennings) and ex-surfer Sean “Dud” Dudley (Wyatt Russell), he learns about the Lodge’s mystical ways and forges a friendship with the two Lynx members.

From there, they embark on some adventures that culminate in a crazy night at Gary’s former house. Let’s just say, narwhals become a topic of conversation. The role of Gary Green was a real tour de force performance for Bruce Campbell and one that was one of his most memorable to date.

AMC seems to think so as well. According to Gold Derby, the network submitted Lodge 49 for Emmy consideration. The placements are as follows:

  • Drama Actor – Brent Jennings, Wyatt Russell
  • Drama Actress – Sonya Cassidy
  • Drama Supporting Actress – Linda Emond
  • Drama Supporting Actor – Eric Allan Kramer, David Pasquesi
  • Drama Guest Actress – Jocelyn Towne
  • Drama Guest Actor – Bruce Campbell

This is truly exciting because this series is one of the best on television. The talent on Lodge 49 is very deserving of recognition.
