Lucifer, my love: Twin Temple Vinyl Cosmetics unboxing and more
By Devin Shea
We are big fans of Twin Temple here at 1428 Elm and they have a collaboration with cosmetic company, Vinyl Cosmetics for a lipstick that’s a gift from Hell.
Hello, hellish beauties. This is something a lot different than what I have done before but I promise it will make sense. I have covered a lot of Twin Temple news in the past and even reviewed their debut album. If you love Twin Temple, then you should definitely check out their collaboration with a company called Vinyl Cosmetics.
Twin Temple has paired up with Alicia Rau from Vinyl and its sister company, Bete Noire (unboxing coming soon) to make up one of the most comfortable and gorgeous red lipsticks called Lucifer. Check out the unboxing video below and keep reading for swatches.
A huge thank you to Alicia at Vinyl Cosmetics for sending me Lucifer as well as the other collaborations to unbox and try for you. Let’s take a look at Twin Temple’s Lucifer first.
Lucifer is a blue-based red which means it will make your teeth look brighter and whiter. Unfortunately, it turns slightly pink on olive skin tones like mine but with a little building, I was able to tone down the pink to have a more true red look. It’s a classic red on the brighter side and this would be amazing with any retro look.
The formula is bananas. I literally put this on and couldn’t get it completely off until the next day. I used my make up wipes and I still had enough color that I could easily go out and no one would notice. I even slept with it and none got on my pillow.
This lipstick definitely needs to be removed with an oil-based remover. But it is so comfortable. I was impressed. This lipstick runs for $22.
Next up we have the Vinyl Cosmetics collab with photographer, singer and alternative model, Beatriz Mariano. She is stunning and if you have seen any alternative brands, you have seen her face.
She is talented in all she does and she has created a beautiful orange-based brick-like red called Covenant. This is the same formula as Lucifer and the tone is better for warmer skin. I adore this color and it has landed itself in my daily makeup bag. This lipstick is $22.
This next lipstick is not a collaboration but a beautiful shade in their Thunder Kiss liquid lip line called Morticia. The doe-foot applicator on this one is a lot smaller and it is scented lightly with vanilla. The color looks different in different lights.
This is natural light and it took on an almost brownish-wine hue when in artificial light, it has more of a purple-based plum color. The formula is the same and this lipstick will run you $18.
I am not sure if this is a collaboration or if it is just the signature color of an alternative model named Death Candy. This is a jet black liquid lip. Most black liquid lipsticks I have ever gotten have such a gray or even GREEN tone to them, that they are never just black and the ones that are, are so splotchy and streaky that it takes a miracle to get it to look even. This, however, is super pigmented, dries down fast and is BLACK. This one costs $18 as well.

I have used liquid lipsticks from a lot of different companies and the Vinyl Cosmetics formula is my favorite so far. I don’t have issues with streaking or flaking. If you eat or drink something remotely oily, you will lose color in what I have heard referred to as the “butthole” of your mouth, meaning your inner lip. That happens with pretty much every lipstick, so it is nothing of concern.
I was tremendously impressed with the quality of the Vinyl Cosmetics lipstick. They have so many amazing shades and they also have an eyeshadow palette as well. All of their lipsticks are matte, vegan and cruelty-free.
Thank you again to Alicia for sending me these. I cannot recommend these lipsticks enough and they are stunning. You can shop the whole collection HERE. If you aren’t familiar with Twin Temple, check out our review of their album and their tour date with the band Ghost.
