There are dozens of horror movies currently in the works and this week we learned a lot about the casting of several of them, including a new serial killer thriller, a Single White Female remake with Jenna Ortega, and more. Plus, Netflix shared the first trailer for Black Mirror season 7 and David Cronenberg fans are in for a treat when they see the trailer for his new movie The Shrouds, arriving in April.
We're all bombarded by news and social media on the daily, so this is a helpful guide to consolidate some of this week's most notable horror movie updates in one place!

Chloë Grace Moretz to lead serial killer thriller
Spanish filmmaker Carlota Pereda is set to direct her first English-language movie with the upcoming serial killer thriller The Edge of Normal. According to Deadline, Chloë Grace Moretz will star as Reeve LeClaire, a kidnapping survivor who her psychiatrist assigns to a mentorship program. But when she meets the "newly rescued survivor, she's pulled into a chilling game of cat-and-mouse."
Pereda is best known for directing the excellent 2022 film Piggy, while horror fans might recognize Moretz from the 2013 Carrie remake where she played the titular role.

Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell circling Single White Female remake
It looks like a remake of the 1992 thriller Single White Female is in the works, and while that news alone wouldn't necessarily interest me, the supposed cast definitely does. Per Variety, Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega is in negotiations to star alongside Taylor Russell (Bones and All).
The original film follows a single woman in Manhattan (Bridget Fonda) who gets into a bad roommate situation with an obsessive Jennifer Jason Leigh. Single White Female is a popular 1990s erotic thriller and has acquired a significant cult following.
Speaking of Ortega and casting news, the actress recently told an IMDb reporter that she would love to be in a new Gremlins movie.
Bridgerton's Phoebe Dynevor boards upcoming M. Night Shyamalan movie
M. Night Shyamalan is working on his next project with Nicholas Sparks, of all people. Considering Sparks is well-known for his romance novels, the news came as a surprise to many, but I'm interested to see what their collaboration brings forth. They are writing a script together and a book, with the story said to be a romantic supernatural thriller. How fitting then, that Bridgerton alum Phoebe Dynevor, who played Daphne in the first season, has joined the cast opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. More about the project here.
Black Mirror season 7 trailer teases 'U.S.S. Callister' sequel
Netflix shared the new trailer for the upcoming season of dystopian series Black Mirror, which will return with six new episodes on April 10. The seventh season of the show created by Charlie Brooker will feature the return of Will Poulter as his Bandersnatch character Colin Ritman, and a sequel to the sci-fi adventure episode "U.S.S. Callister" from season 4. Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson, and Billy Magnussen are reprising their roles. Learn more about Black Mirror season 7.
Late Night with the Devil star joins Dexter: Resurrection cast
The cast of upcoming Dexter sequel series Dexter: Resurrection continues to grow. The latest addition is Late Night with the Devil star David Dastmalchian, though little is known about his character. Variety says the only information divulged thus far is that he's playing someone named Gareth in a guest-star role. 1428 Elm has reported on the previous casting news, which includes Kyrsten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, Neil Patrick Harris, and more.
