New Until Dawn trailer teases more monsters
Sony has released another trailer for the upcoming movie version of popular horror video game Until Dawn. This one shows us more of what to expect from the film, which will force the characters to relive their deaths over and over as they try and survive until dawn.
Each night they'll be plagued by different monsters in a Cabin in the Woods-style setup. Even though the film version is quite different from the game's story, I can't help but be excited for what's in store.
Next Dark Anthology game Directive 8020 coming later this year
And speaking of Until Dawn, the studio behind the original video game, Supermassive Games, is preparing to release the next entry in its popular Dark Picture Anthology series. The next game is a sci-fi horror titled Directive 8020.
A story teaser was released earlier this week, showing that Directive 8020 follows a group of astronauts stalked by an alien entity that has become exceptionally gifted at mimicking its prey.
True Detective season 5 gets an update
We're still quite a long way away from seeing True Detective season 5 on our television screens (2027), but we did get some new information about what to expect for the next season. Season 5 will take place in New York and it will feature some connections to what happened in the previous season in Ennis, Alaska. However the story and characters are all new. Filming will start later this year, so we should get some casting news within the next few months.
Aaron Paul and Jacob Tremblay to star in The Night House
Breaking Bad alum Aaron Paul and Jacob Tremblay (Doctor Sleep) will star in the upcoming adaptation of Jo Nesbø's captivating horror novel The Night House. Nesbø is a popular Norwegian crime fiction writer, best known for his Harry Hole series. Variety reports that the film will come from Steven Schneider (Split, Insidious, Paranormal Activity). Tremblay and Paul will play younger and older versions of the film's protagonist, Richard.
The film synopsis:
"In the wake of his parents’ recent death, highschooler Richard (Tremblay) has been sent to live with relatives in the remote town of Ballantyne. One day, during an innocent prank call in a phone booth, Richard shockingly witnesses his classmate violently get sucked into the phone receiver and disappear without a trace. Police suspect Richard to be responsible, and no one believes his story except Karen – a fellow teenage outsider. As Richard and Karen try to understand their friend’s unspeakable death, they soon realise they have unleashed terrifying evil forces. In this twisted spin on a classic horror story, and as reality starts to blur, we must ask ourselves – can we truly trust Richard, and can he even trust himself?"
