Netflix has been sharing more details about its upcoming 2025 slate, which includes the return of huge shows like Squid Game, Stranger Things, Wednesday, and more. However, one show that horror and true crime fans are most anticipating is Monster season 3, or Monster: The Original Monster, as it has been officially titled.

The third season of Netflix's grisly and disturbing crime drama from American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy will focus on Ed Gein, also known as the "Butcher of Plainfield." Charlie Hunnam has been cast as Gein, and now a new report from The InSneider indicates that TikTok star Addison Rae has joined the cast alongside Suzanna Son (Red Rocket). Their roles are being kept under wraps, but Sneider says they won't be playing Gein's victims, Mary Hogan or Bernice Worden.

The Netflix series would hardly be Rae's first horror project as the actress previously starred in Eli Roth's slasher film Thanksgiving and is rumored to return for the upcoming sequel, which will reportedly be released later this year. Before Thanksgiving, Rae starred in the Netflix Original movie He's All That, a remake of the 1999 film She's All That.

In recent years, the social media star has pivoted from TikTok to start her acting and singing career. Starring in Monster season 3 would be another step in that direction.

As for Son, the actress earned acclaim for her performance in Sean Baker's film Red Rocket, and she will appear in Netflix's upcoming slasher flick Fear Street: Prom Queen, so it would make sense if the actress were also working with the streamer on another project. Son also starred in the HBO series The Idol.

While the first season centered on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (played by Evan Peters), the series has moved away from serial killers in its follow-up seasons.

Season 2 centered on Lyle and Erik Menendez, and while Gein has become an infamous name in the true crime community, he was not a convicted serial killer. That said, Gein became so well known because of his disturbing habits of making furniture and other items out of human skin and other body parts he found by exhuming corpses and gravedigging.

What's On Netflix previously shared photos of Monster season 3 filming, giving us a first look at Hunnam as Gein and other cast members like Vicky Krieps. The third season will also reportedly star Laurie Metcalf, Olivia Williams, and Tom Hollander.

For now, the first two seasons of Monster are currently streaming on Netflix with the third season set to premiere later this year. Stay tuned to 1428 Elm for more details and updates.
