New Addition: Billy Campbell cast in upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot
The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot cast is coming together in a promising way. We just learned that Golden Globe Award nominee Billy Campbell (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Cardinal) has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. I wonder who he could be playing in the slasher.
Campbell joins a growing list of actors who have already been announced to be in the cast, such as Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery), Sarah Pidgeon (Lazareth, The Wilds), Tyriq Withers (The Game, Tell Me Lies), and Jonah Haur-King (The Little Mermaid, The Tattooist of Auschwitz).
Freddie Prinze Jr. was announced recently to have officially joined the cast, reprising his role of Ray Bronson from the original film and its 1998 sequel. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy Norwood are also in talks to return in their roles as Julie James and Karla Wilson.
Additionally, Bodies Bodies Bodies star Chase Sui Wonders is currently in discussions about joining the cast of the upcoming Sony movie. However, who she will be portraying in the film is unknown. Camila Mendes (Riverdale, Do Revenge) was initially part of the cast but had to exit due to scheduling conflicts.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge, Someone Great) will direct the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, aka legacy sequel, from a script she co-wrote with Sam Lansky. Leah McKendrick (Scrambled, M.F.A.) wrote the original draft. Sadly, plot details are still being kept secret. However, the good news is that we know when this slasher will hit theaters, and that's on July 18, 2025.
As mentioned above, some of Campbell's most recent projects are the TV shows Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Cardinal. You might also recognize him from other TV shows such as Modus, Helix, The Killing, The 4400, The O.C., Once and Again and Dynasty. When it comes to film, he starred in movies such as Bram Stoker's Dracula, Enough and Troll. Besides the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot, we'll see him next in the upcoming thriller Trust.
