Modern horror icons James Wan and Leigh Whannell have brought us multiple blockbuster franchises over the years, including Saw and Insidious. Insidious: The Red Door was meant to be the final film in the series, but Sony changed its mind after the film's financial success. A sixth Insidious movie is now in the works and planned for a 2025 release date. But that's not all.
Blumhouse, GEA Live, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and RoadCo Entertainment are working in tandem to bring an immersive Insidious experience to 80+ cities across North America next year. Blumhouse also recently collaborated with Peacock to create an Insidious-themed experience at the famous Overlook Hotel and the franchise was featured as part of this year's Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. All of these events just prove that this horror franchise still has plenty of juice left.
It's no surprise that the Insidious franchise continues to grow over a decade since it premiered in 2010. Since that time, it has generated over $742 million across five films. This new venture will finally allow audiences to become active participants in the story, and if it's as scary as it appears to be... you might start wishing you were just watching another movie.
Insidious: The Further You Fear
The upcoming show based on one of the most successful horror franchises of all time will launch in January 2025, with tickets going on sale starting on October 25.
Described as a "heart-pounding live theatrical experience" that blurs the lines "between reality and fiction," the theatrical show will feature a brand-new story set within the Insidious universe. The event itself will be hosted by Specs and Tucker, the paranormal investigators who often worked with Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) in the movies.
"We have brought some of the most respected names in the horror and entertainment industries together to make this groundbreaking show possible and ensure a hauntingly unforgettable experience for audiences everywhere."Floris Douwes from GEA Live
Insidious: The Further You Fear is presented as a "real" show from Specs and Tucker, as they try to prove their paranormal prowess by ghost-hunting for the audience—only for things to go horribly awry as "dark forces are inadvertently unleashed."
Audiences will be trapped with them in a haunted theater as the ominous Red Door opens, unleashing a horde of iconic demons from the franchise like the Lipstick Faced Demon and the Bride in Black.
