AMC has finally unveiled the title of the upcoming third series set in their popular and seemingly unstoppable Walking Dead universe.

If you thought The Walking Dead universe was coming to a stop anytime soon, then you must not be paying attention. AMC’s flagship series has already spawned one spin-off, and the network just announced the official title for the upcoming third series, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The new second spin-off will be titled The Walking Dead: World Beyond. AMC has also released the first official teaser trailer for the upcoming first season, which is set to premiere in spring 2020.

Based on the trailer, it appears this new entry into the apocalyptic genre will aim at a slightly younger demographic. The tone and characters that were shown in the snippet look much more youthful than some of the grizzled adult faces we’re used to seeing.

More from The Walking Dead

What’s interesting about this new crop of characters is that they have grown up in the world of zombies, unlike the characters from the original series. This group of survivors has hardly known anything beyond the realm of impromptu attacks by the undead.

The aforementioned The Hollywood Reporter article cited a quote from Scott M. Gimple — the chief of The Walking Dead universe at AMC — from this year’s New York Comic Con that described the series.

"“They’ve grown up in the apocalypse. They’re aware of walkers. They haven’t interacted with them. They’ve been [living] beyond walls. That makes any journey they need to make incredibly dangerous.”"

Essentially, this new crop of characters has hardly existed outside of the apocalypse. However, they also haven’t been down in the trenches where the constant danger either. They have remained mostly sheltered until now.

It could be interesting to watch a band of teenagers and young adults take on the end of the world. It’s not dissimilar to what we saw in Netflix’s recent series Daybreak.
