Terrifier 3 among 14 new scary movies and shows releasing this week, Oct. 7
By Mads Lennon
Art the Clown finally returns this week after months of hype and anticipation surrounding the third outing in the popular slasher franchise. This time, Damien Leone and co. have created a Christmas horror movie that's likely to be just as popular this December as it is this month. Terrifier 3 will also receive a wider distribution, so if you'd like to see it theatrically, odds are that it will be playing somewhere near you starting Thursday night.
For those who aren't Terrifier fans, or just want something else to watch before the weekend, Peacock will debut the first two episodes of terrifying new series Teacup while Max is home to psychological thriller Caddo Lake. There's also a new movie coming to Hulu, Killer Cakes on Amazon, and much more arriving on streaming this week!
And don't forget that From season 3 is currently airing on MGM+, with new episodes dropping weekly on Sundays. The first three episodes of the season are now available to watch.
Terrifier 3 (Theaters, Oct. 11)
The next chapter in Damien Leone's brutal and gruesome slasher film series releases theatrically this Friday. Described as the goriest of the three movies thus far, early screenings reportedly led to several walkouts and some vomiting. Even star David Howard Thornton, who plays menacing yet whimsical killer Art the Clown, almost threw up during the filming of one scene. Brace yourself, and get ready to see Art terrorize Sienna (Lauren LaVera) and her town on Christmas.
Caddo Lake (Max, Oct. 10)
A thriller film produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Caddo Lake is a psychological film starring Dylan O'Brien and Eliza Scanlen. It follows the disappearance of an eight-year-old girl that seemingly connects to past disappearances and deaths in the same area. While not filmed at Caddo Lake, it is based on the real location, a bayou on the Texas/Louisiana border home to one of the world's largest flooded cypress forests.
Teacup (Peacock, Oct. 10)
Plot details about Teacup are being kept in the dark for now, but we know that the upcoming series is inspired by Robert R. McCammon's novel Stinger. The series follows a disparate group of survivors on a rural Georgian farm, forced to work together to survive a threat. James Wan executive produces under his Atomic Monster banner. The first two episodes premiere this Thursday, followed by two a week until the Halloween finale.
Killer Cakes (Prime Video, Oct. 8)
Matthew Lillard (Scream, Five Nights at Freddy's) hosts this fun new baking competition from Blumhouse Television that tasks bakers to work with Hollywood special effects artists to make disturbing (but tasty!) cakes. It will be up to the contestants to wow everyone with their gory masterpieces. Scream queen Danielle Harris (Halloween and Hatchet franchises) will judge alongside experimental food artist Nikk Alcaraz.
Daddy's Head (Shudder, Oct. 11)
A young boy struggles to deal with his father's sudden death. Left alone with his widowed stepmother on a spacious country estate, the boy is disturbed when he starts seeing a monstrous creature roaming the house, especially since it looks strangely similar to his father. Daddy's Head is earning positive reviews and being compared favorably to films like The Babadook and other folk horror titles.
Mr. Crocket (Hulu, Oct. 11)
One of three new original horror movies releasing on Hulu this "Huluween," Mr. Crocket is a 1990s-set horror film based on director Brandon Espy's previous short. In the world of Mr. Crocket, kids across the country enjoy a children's television show Mr. Crocket's World. The problem is, "Mr. Crocket" is some kind of TV-hopping monster who can pop out of the screen to kidnap his young viewers—murdering their parents in the process.
