The Walking Dead: The World Beyond hasn’t even premiered yet, but the series already has an endgame in mind. Find out more about the upcoming spin-off.

The Walking Dead is one of the biggest horror franchises in existence right now, and whether you love it or hate it, the zombie apocalypse train shows no signs of slowing down. One successful spin-off wasn’t enough, another, The Walking Dead: World Beyond is set to premiere this spring.

However, unlike the flagship series and Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be a much more succinct entry into the monster series.

The Walking Dead is still chugging along despite the deaths and exits of numerous main characters, including Rick Grimes himself (although he is rumored to get his own spin-off films — eventually). But World Beyond will be different in that it already has an endgame in mind.

More from The Walking Dead

TVLine reports that the latest Walking Dead TV show will only span two seasons in total. AMC President Sarah Barnett was quoted saying, “‘World Beyond’ is a two-season closed-ended series that will tell a very specific and distinct story.”

It’s probably the best decision for the series since it gives them the chance to tell the story they want to and then get out before it overstays its welcome.

The series will follow a group of teenage survivors right after the apocalypse began. The official logline says the show will be about two sisters and their friends after they leave the place of safety they’ve always known to venture out on a quest.

Alexa Mansour, Aliyah Royale, Nico Tortorella, Annet Mahendru, and Julia Ormond will star.
