Ross Marquand has ideas on how Aaron could meet his demise on the show. That is if the time should ever come and it is going to have some very Evil Dead overtones.

Ross Marquand has played fan favorite, Aaron since 2015 on The Walking Dead. Like most characters on the series, he has seen his fair share of gruesome injuries among the cast. One of which parallels a certain other notable franchise, namely Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead.

Everyone knows the story of Ash Williams played by legendary actor, Bruce Campbell. He went to a cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway hopefully to get laid by his gal pal only to end up killing all his friends because they unleashed a dark force in the woods.

Well, in Evil Dead 2, Ash tussles with the Deadites again and this time ends up cutting his hand off with a chainsaw because the evil has infested his arm. He then replaces his body part with the chainsaw. Good times!

In Season 9 of AMC’s most popular horror show, Ross Marquand finds his character Aaron in a similar state. After suffering a grisly accident that leaves him without an arm, he ends up receiving a very cool prop courtesy of Greg Nicotero’s makeup team.

Which makes this another connection to the world of Evil Dead because Nicotero did special makeup FX for Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. What he came up with is very Ash Williams inspired. Aaron gets a metal arm and hand which is very reminiscent of Campbell’s characters’ gauntlet in AOD.

Fans of the comic book series know that originally Rick Grimes was supposed to be the one to lose an appendage but due to budgetary constraints because Andrew Lincoln was onscreen the most, it was decided that Aaron would take one for the team so to speak.

What is ironic is showrunner Angela Kang approached Marquand in the same way Sam Raimi approached his friend Bruce Campbell on the set of Evil Dead 2. According to Comic Book, Kang broached the subject with her actor like this:

"“We’re thinking about losing your arm then giving you a prosthetic.”"

Which led Ross Marquand to ponder how he wants his character to meet his demise when the time comes. And we must say it is very Ash Williams. He wants to kill a Whisperer in an “epic fashion.” Marquand envisions a tense scene where the stakes are high and both would die.

Much like in an Evil Dead film, Aaron would meet his fate after uttering a catch phrase. Ross wants it to be “Hey, let me give you a hand,” then he would “smash” his metal prosthetic through the zombie’s face.
